    Thanks Dimbo61,

Our mortgage doesn't have any ERCs. We did check with the Bank when we signed the papers but then I would never trust the bank and will check the T&Cs nearer the time. It is lifetime tracker and we can do as many overpayments as we want.

I am glad we didn't take a fixed 2 year deal like all our friends.

The plan is to move money to ISAs each year as the Regular Savers mature so we don't loose out the yearly 2 X 3600 tax free allowance and also earn the maximum interest that we can...

Thanks for you encouragement and Good Luck for everything that you are on website for... Very appreciated...

Counted and sorted the copper that we had and it is £28 + £4.46 = £32.46

so it goes to DH's and my account on Monday :j

Will also see where I can get maximum £ for the Swiss Franks and put them also in the Bank or should I use them for OP the mortgage.. Will be a nice feeling I guess

As one of your regular savers finishes in jan 2009 I would consider paying £6k off the mortgage and putting rest into IA fund then come march/ april find the best ISA and put march RS plus £450 into 2 ISA,s for you and OH.
You will soon know if you can make unlimited overpayments and have a slightly smaller mortgage.
Dont forget your IA fund is paying 4.08% before tax so might not be far off the 2.79% you pay on the mortgage !
You also have 7 RS which mature in oct/nov/dec 2009 so see what mortgage rate is then and what saving rates you can get! GOOD LUCK MQ

Hi Dimbo61 ... Thanks - very good point... Would be great to see the reduction in the mortgage amount...

Now update for 02/12/2008. Have prepared 10 meals for next week today so lunch and dinner sorted for next week

Had to do a big Supermarket shop today but think I should actually wait few more days. Have enough fruit and milk at home.. so should be okay till next week

Will be searching all the old mobiles that we have and recycle them for some cash.. Though not expecting much as they are all quite old and I am not sure if they still work. but still worth a try and if nothing else it will atleast declutter my house a bit.

Have also joined PigsBack and have been pestering DH to do the same. so will see how that goes.

Had thought about Survey Sites but not really sure if they are worth all the time spent.

DH may look into Matched Betting though. Will see how risky they are as really don't want to loose any cash that we can put in the mortgage account. Any tips gratefully received...

Also had a thought about the MF target date - I somehow like the date 10/10/10 because 1) it looks nice 2) It is just few days before our wedding anniversary so this can be a very nice present for both of us... I will update the first post

    Hi MoneyQueen,

Re match betting - it is completely risk free if you do it correctly. My advice is to read the guides on the gambling board a hundred times then have a go. Ask questions if you have any issues as there are lots of experts on that part of the forum.
It is a very simple means of making money; in fact I was reading a message yesterday where someone has paid off their mortgage doing it. You will need a float - the guides state £50 of your own money but I found I needed substantially more - don't panic you don't lose it!

I'm planning on sorting out my eBay stuff first and then going back to it in April time as I am not very good at trying to do too many things at once - I end up doing none of them.

  • Thanks Floxxie..

Will take printouts of all the guides and then hope DH actually spends some time reading them

eBay is a good idea. Though not really sure what will sell and what not. Have already given lots of stuff on charity so not really left with much that can sell..

Good Luck to you with eBaying and Matched Betting..
  • Update for 03/01/2009

NSD today - Well didn't go out the whole day.. Laziness has its own advantages ;)

Still haven't searched for al the mobiles to recycle for cash. Will do it just now

And still haven't got round to use the energy meter with the freezer.

But otherwise has been a good day LOL - Only used heating for 1 hr today...so some progress there...

    Will provide update tomorrow

Good Luck everyone with your endeavours
