Opodo - help required

Hoping someone can help with regards to my consumer rights. I think I know my rights but would feel happier if someone could confirm for me, before I write an arsey letter to Opodo.
Anyway, I ordered a flight for my g/f and my daughter to fly via Orlando to Melbourne in April / May next year. I ordered this in August.
Opodo have yet to take the payment as they have a "dispute with American Airlines over the price".
They continually fob us off that they are sorting this out (and some moneysavers will save earn the interest) but we want this sorted once and for all as we want to know they are on that flight, as my g/f's visa expires on the day she is scheduled to leave and it would lift a weight off our shoulders as we still have so much to sort out.
My interpretation is that Opodo need to charge us the same amount that was quoted, and confirmed to us in our email (receipt of purchase) and it is their responsibility to take the payment from the account (we have provided details more than once yet they haven't yet followed the banking process and therefore haven't taken payment).
i'm under the impression that they should take the payment out now, as this is our contract between opodo and us and opodo need to sort out their contract between themselves and AA seperately.
Anyone got any views before I write them a letter. I'm assuming that this might be something to report to the regulator should they not respond adequately to us?
