for that price i'd want the rest of the dog....
do they really make that much difference?

No, its the difference between good and fantastic
Most people would be happy with good.
Fantastic gives sharper detail, more 3 dimensional pictures and more natural colours.
But so we're clear, they dont turn everything to gold :p

And if the tvs a mediocre one with no mains conditioning, it probably wont make ANY difference.

Incidentally, our small local branch of Curry's - which actually has some very nice, helpful and knowledgeable staff, unlike those at their huge emporium at the out-of-town retail park - has set up an interesting demonstration using two identical large-screen televisions, connected to the same video source but with different HDMI leads, to display the difference in image quality that is obtained.
How do you know the two televisions are set up exactly the same?

I'd be devious and ask for the two leads to be swapped and see what happened to the picture quality. ;)
    Move along, nothing to see.

50 inches you need more like 46 sq meters!

Do they still make TVs as small as 50 inches? I thought anything that size was now classed as portable.
