Gifting shares to spouse

My wife has some shares in the company she works for.
We would like to know how much is she allowed to gift to me before one or both of us has to pay tax?
And also, how do you actually go about gifting shares to your spouse?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know she can gift you as much as she wants because asset transfers between spouses are invisible/tax exempt.
To transfer a share you need to fill out a CREST transfer form. Start here:

(it's a Halifax link but that doesn't matter)Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.0 -
So what is the position with regard to capital gains (or losses) when the shares are eventually sold?5f....0

CGT will be levied against the seller as if he had owned the shares from the original acquisition date at the original cost.0
