  • In case you're wondering, the M&S price of £581.03 is what happens at checkout when VAT change (down 2½%) applied. Anywhere else doing this?

I've gone for the M&S deal too, having missed out locally. Last Sunday, Richer Sounds cost (now sold out) meant Curry's "price promise +10% of difference" brought the cost to £489...assistant confirmed this, only no stock in that store but did have in other outlet other side of town. Hubby decided to wait until the following day, as he would be going that way then...however, by Monday Richer Sounds were confirming all stock gone, so Curry's would not allow less than £599. Their loss, as we have bought from M&S which, using Quidco, means we get this great TV for about the same price as if we'd bought from RS (their cost inc 5 yr guarantee was £549).

Should be here in a couple of weeks, by then we won't have to try and install around the Christmas tree!

Has anyone bought one of these? I was told in Currys today that they come with a standard 5 year manufactures warranty. Their price is 599. They had none in stock but would order me one. I know that Sony Centre, M&S, JL etc give 5year warranty. He said that the waranty given by these other companies was in fact backed by Sony. Would probably just cover parts only. He would't price match the product with their 5 year warrantty. Anyone have any details?

Ask Direct are doing it for £539 (with a 5 year warranty) but currently out of stock. Not sure if their Tottenham Court Road store has any but it may be worth checking...

    Here's the link:
    http://www.askdirect.co.uk/uview?call=ask.productSearch&id=11637&topcatid=20

NB: they seem to be saying if bought in store (with the 5 year warranty) it'll cost £699!
...maybe call the shop and see what the situation is?

And another sugestion, if Ask say their in store price is £539 is to go to John Lewis Oxford Street and get them to price match... (I find their support much better!)
  • I think this tv is on amazon for £559.99 inc 3 year warranty.

I have seen a few links for this TV so far in various places but none solely for this model.
Actually there was already a thread here about this model:

They don't come with a standard 5 year warranty. The only true thing said was that Currys won't price match - they always come up with some excuse. Best to buy it elsewhere.

    Yes, and with free delivery.
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Thanks Roger Rampant. Finally got one today from JL with the 5year guarantee for £599. Take delivery Friday. Hope its OK!
  • Am I missing something here? Surely the best deal is from M&S through Quidco? With the VAT change and 5% Quidco, it comes to a tad over £550 delivered and with a very simple 5 year guarantee (just keep your receipt, no forms required).

Yes. It is a better deal. However, I have had such bad experiences with M&S online. Ordered clothes that were "in stock", only to receive e-mails saying they were no longer available. Didn't want to use them again.
  • we had ours delivered from JL yesterday and am more than happy with it - i wanted it on the wall on a movable arm, but hubbie didn't trust himself to do this!
We have brought a stand from costco which has three shelfs and an arm which holds the tv, so looks a bit like it is on the wall.
a bit like this one from JL but 3 shelfs and only £140 http://www.johnlewis.com/230496312/Product.aspx
    hope this helps someone.
