Dear All,
Thank You all for your lovely positive words.
Some of you have asked how I did it.
Unfortunately, for me there was no magic answer, but I just kept "chipping away" at the money I owed. At the worst juncture, I owed £22,000.
I found the simple concept of NSD's fantastic, as it really made me realise that small amounts all add up (Weird that!!!
). I also worked overtime as well as decluttering my house by selling things on ebay. Every little bit just helped to reduce the figure.
Of course there were times where I would be really good and then I would go out and spend again and the debt would mount again. I actually went through quite of few of these cycles, but the final light bulb moment came early last year (2007), when I actually discussed my debt with one of my close friends and she made me realise, that I needed to do something about it. From then I developed a proper plan and stuck to it.
Life has been unlucky to us along the way, both my OH and were made redundant at the same time, but it was the best thing that could ever have happened us. Change can be so refreshing.
For me now, my next challenge is to set up a monthly saving plan, which is two-fold. 1. Save up money for a rainy day. 2. Save money to ensure I don't get back into debt for when/if I get pregnant with our next child.
Many Thanks to you all and I hope you all find your pot of gold at the end of your rainbow.

Hi All,
Having been in debt for about 11 years now, I finally became debt free on 23rd December.
I have been a lurker on these boards for quite a while now and never posted a diary, but I just wanted to tell someone that I'm now debt free. I've always kept my debts hidden from almost everyone and therefore will probably not share this information with anyone else.
It has been a long road and I know I have been lucky and unlucky with life along the way, but I have received extremely useful advice of these boards and of the website itself. Many Thanks to all of you who contribute.
Happy New Year to all of you and keep the chin up in times of desperation, you will get there.

Brilliantly done. I'm delighted for you.
Hope to be there myself in a few years.0 -
