failed o2 credit check BUT

I've already got a contract with them at the moment, if I rang up would that make a difference and would I then be able to get the phone?

Anyone?

  • doubt it
    i got a contract with o2
    due to end soon,
and i've just ordered a new contract online with them

although my mrs tried to get a contract with them and failed credit check somehow?*!£? i was confused at this as she had a good credit rating and has had contracts with voda and orange in the past.

so i went to order another new conract in my name on behalf of the mrs and got declined at credit check, and my rating is spectacular
  • I think you'll be fine because they dont do a credit check again if you call up retentions afaik.
  • that's crap :(

  • Apparently, O2 has a 90% refusal rate at the moment. Some guy at phones 4 u told me. Not sure why, maybe it's the credit crunch?

i was told this to, by someone that works for O2 is to do with people not paying there bills and them being owed at lot of money, there spend more time chasing people at the moment than anything else.

not sure how much of it is true, and how much of a difference it would make, but some of the O2 stores are franchise stores rather than actual O2.. same systems, same deals, but not wholly owned by the network... I passed the credit check (which I was very suprised at) but my mate on the table next to me failed his, the salesperson recommended a call to O2 directly to see what could be done, means the store lost the commision on the sale as it went through fine over the phone.

When my Blackberry started playing up, I went into an O2 store in Newcastle, but they couldnt see all my details on the screen, when they asked where I got the phone from and detailed it was in my home town branch of Ashington (The birthplace of Jack and Bobby Charlton - Boring fact alert), he said that the Ashington store is classed as a franchise so I would either need to call O2 Customer Service, or go back to branch....

as i say, not sure if this is true or not, but maybe some stores have stricter credit criterias and less influence
