Start how you mean to go on.
You are the parent, they are the child and you feed them what you want them to have when you want them to have it.
Some of the new ideas about feeding seem a little strange to me.....so many oz's per day blah blah. If you know you feed them well, they are happy you are happy....what else matters?0 -

Actually she got the message that she wasn't going to get fed quite quickly (Considering I was on my own with her so had no option of sending someone without boobs in to settle her) but she still used to wake in the night afterwards, she went through a phase where she just wanted a cuddle then putting down and after that she went through a phase where she just cried but didn't want picking up, just left alone... But that could just be her... She's nearly 5 now and will still wake in the night and come in just for a cuddle...
The main thing is just stay firm, if you cave after an hour of crying the first night then she'll cry for 2 hours the next time you try because she'll be expecting you to give in...
Staying firm is tough.......I give in to easily to her......I will pick a night and start...... thank you you have really helped. :beer:Boo!:rotfl:0 -

its more about the fact that i know babies of his age need about 20oz of milk a day - whether it be formula or breast milk, to ensure they get enough vitamins and minerals in their diet, as at this stage they arent eating enough to get them. So i'm worried that if i stop feeding him altogether and he wont take formula then he'll not be getting a good enough amount of nutrients. I don't think thats a new idea at all!
And i also don't think that just because I am the parent that i should decide when my baby eats and drinks - he eats and drinks when he's hungry or thirsty and although i feed him meals at regular times if he doesnt want them i cant make him eat, likewise if he wants to breast feed from me during the day i let him - until such times as he's taking enough formula from a cup - i think its a delicate balance - i would never starve him but at the same time i'm trying not to feed him as and when he wants.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
