  • Im not being funny but its not a case of money laundering is it? Some overseas people will happily hand over small and v.large sums of money in order to money launder and arent bothered about ever recieving the goods. :exclamati

I had someone try to do it to me when selling an old iphone.

Please pass my details on to somebody who wishes to send me some money.

I don't care if they are breaking the law in doing so.
  • Your oh shouldn't have spent the money from the sale of this car until the goods had been collected and the buyer was satisfied, by all means give him a time frame to collect the car but you will then have to refund him what he paid and then resell. I would start saving now.

This is not money laundering it's money giving! I want some please :T

If at a later date (reasonable time period) the buyer actually gets in touch and collect car then it's not too much of a problem. Can always charged some storage fee for the inconvenience.

Like I said, I would charge them a fee depending on the timescale of collection. And if they want a refund then I would not refund and insist on collection or forfeit.

But why did the op book the operation when he hadn't even sold the car and didn't know how much he would get?

That's is the discretion of the owner. He did know how much get got for the car as the buyer paid in full. This is a private sale, if the owner state sold as described/seen then the buyer cannot get a refund if the owner refuse it.

The owner did the right thing as any right minded person in his pesonal health situation would of done, thats to get on with their life with whatever they need without the need to think about what if the buyer do not collect car.

You'd have to refund first, otherwise you are selling someone elses property. Until the buyer has the money back in his account, the car is his and as there were no terms agreed he has all the time in the world to collect it. About the only thing you can do is to move it off of your property and out into the street, as long as it is legally parked.

Is there anyway that you can sign off the log book and officially make it the buyers car? Then it is no longer your legal responsibility if it gets towed or if the tax disc expires.

sadly theres no contact details , if we request details from ebay then its still an issue in that the details may not be the new owners ? he could after all be using someone elses ebay account

as for leaving in the road thats not a possability as theres the duty of care to concider , if anything happens to the car within the time it takes for him to collect my dad would be held accountable , its a bit like borrowing a car from someone then crashing it , the borrower is responsible

funny you should say that , the price was low on ebay as it had to be sold , this car would be worth a fortune where its heading and with a resto job then could easly be a legal explanation to having alot of money , imagine if you will the car is never collected but a bill of sale can be shown for the car plus a couple of grand transport costs then say 10 grand resto from a garage then a recipt shown for say 30 grand quite legitimately , good way of legalising a few quid
