It doesn't automatically end. Usually you would need to contact them, as they will be happy not to need to offer a new phone or other incentives. If you bought the phone via a dealer, then maybe they will contact you.

Do not accept offeres over the telephone of an upgrade though, as they are not always to do with Orange, or the company you r are with.

They will ask for your credit card details and account number etc.

They are not offereing you an upgrade, they are setting up a contract with another operator. (Usually 3 - although they are in no way part of 3, and most of them aren't authorised 3 dealers).

    Just a warning.

If you want an upgrade, call Orange directly, or go to an Orange store.

I contacted Orange before my contract expired and they offered some good deals... line rental discounts and a new phone etc. I didn't take them up on their offer as I had probs with coverage and dropped calls so decided to get two PAYG sims on Voda and Orange. Interestingly the problems have been resolved now after about 10 months. I also had problems getting into my account on-line on the Orange website. If you try later it will probably eventually work. I have had several 3 dealers call with offers of free line rental for 12 months (18 month contracts etc). Best to go direct in my opinion to Orange if your happy with them.

In my (limited) experience you should phone Orange a month before (i.e. now) as it usually takes 30 days to cancel a contract.
You can either get the number ported to your new contract, get the number transferred to a PAYG sim (both these options require you to register the number within 30 days of notifying them), or simply cancel the contract and lose the number.

If you cancel your contract before your minimum term is up they might charge a penalty.
