Very important Sky+ news ?

Options
I have just rung Sky to get reduce my subscription.

I sent for the Freesat card a couple of weeks ago,so today i wanted to just take the £10 per month Sky+ recording feature. I was told (and she checked with 2 managers) that since Sept last year, they changed their T&C's,so this was NOT possible, the minumum is now £15 + the £10 sky+ fee.

I have just fired off 3 emails to different Sky departments, just to see if they agree.

So it looks like they a scamming more money out of us again !

Do you need a Freesat card ?, I was under the impression that the original discontinued sky card enabled you to watch the "free" channels, more rip offs?

    could be wrong

Pity about this news if correct. I had been patiently waiting for the SKY+ freesat deal to get cheaper not more expensive, before getting one (as more competition from good PVRs arrives).

?? I thought you had to be a Sky subscriber <monthly paying customer> to use Sky+ - I didn't think you could use Sky+ with a 'free' card. If you are a Sky subscriber, Sky+ is usually £10 a month unless you subscribe to 2 or more of the premium channels - Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Movies 1, Sky Movies 2.

If you cancel Sky then your existing card becomes a freesat card, so it looks like you have been billed £20 for something you did not need.
You should be aware that you will not get E4 or More4 on Freesat, despite them being available on Freeview.
Sounds as if you would be better off with a Freeview PVR.

  • Hi
I got rid of Sky, went for the Topfield 5800 pvr, freeview, twin tuners, 160gb hd. Watch one channel, whilst recording another two, pause live tv. etc excellent picture and reception, no upgrade in aerial, and no MORE subscription to Sky :j

    Love it

Do you realise that Sky try to get £400 out of every subscriber, every year? [thread]113351[/thread]. :)

They are on a loser with me then, when the new channel mixes came out last year I reduced my spend from £19.50 to £15 a month

    Love it

I have been thinking about this option, but would you mind answering some questions for me?

The most important is,what is the EPG like?

Even though i am not loyal to Sky,their EPG is so simple,my wife wouldn't like something more complicated.

    Are there any screenshots available?

    How much do these cost?

These work off a normal aerial?
