I went to Specsavers today for an eye test as they've got their 25% off deal for a pair of glasses / lens (on until 3rd Jan I think) which itself saved me £58.75!
Also got an NHS voucher for a free eye test (£19.32 - in case anyone's interested, details here) and £13.40 off the specs as one of my eyes is below -10 (yep I'm blind! Well, not really, but still
) So a saving of £254.32 - £162.85 = £91.47 or 36%! Not bad at all!
It's worth noting they do this every year, early Dec to early Jan, so if you delay or slightly bring forward you're test and they're yearly or every two years you'll be getting a similar saving for many years to come...

I get my glasses from there, and haven't had a test for a year so I'll go in. Thanks for the tip. I usually get BOGOF. I was going to have my existing ones reglazed. I'm only -5 but like them thinned down!0
-
Yeah the BOGOF deal is the one they do most of the year round but it should be noted, for people with milk top lenses the second free pair wouldn't have any thinning of lenses like the first, you get the frames and untreated lenses for free only.0

below -10 i think you mean above!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
Another tip is to look for glasses in the shops, get your prescription and then order online. I got mine half price, and also free lenses. Only for certain prescription limits so worth a try!0

Does anyone have a site that they can recommend? I need varifocals and because my prescription is so strong I need thinner lenses and I also like them to be reactive. I'm considering selectspecs.com at the moment.0

If you are a member of costco i would go there - you can get loads of designer frames for cheap...0

try glassescomplete.co.uk. they do glasses from 15.00 if you have your prescription. hope this helps
always send a smile as it costs nothing..

Thanks a lot. I have ended up going into town and buying from Boots because this is the only way I can get varifocals. Most online companies won't do them and the one that would, needed to send someone to measure me. The waiting list for this was too long.0

If you use a computer at work, you are legally entitled to have work pay for your eye tests (usually one a year) under EU law, FYI0
-
Yup, this was handy before I retired because they also paid for a pair of computer specs. Not the varifocals though! I'm now old enough for free eye tests but this is handy info for anyone working, thanks!0
