Hi, I have looked up for help but not sure whats wrong so not sure what help I need!!
My mums laptop is starting up and screen come alive with ACER screenpage then ................... Nothing!!!!!
Im not sure what the problem could be as the screen is coming up at the start and still seems to be running as harddrive light comes on and off but the screen is just blank (but not off blank if that makes sense!?!?!)
It was turned off one evening after my neice was on it and this happened the next morning when my mum tried to start the laptop up!
Any help would be really really appreciated, what with xmas expenses, money is tight!

hi do you have a monitor you could plug into your laptop to try?0

Make sure there's no disc in the CD/DVD drive and no external hard drives or usb hard drives plugged in and no floppy disks in the floppy disk drive if it has one.0

Nope, no discs or floppies or anything left in the laptop. There also was nothing in it at the time when it was started and went funny, not sure if that will matter but thought I should mention!
Thanks0 -
dells have a blue screen function button thingy on the keyboard (I'm sure that is the technical term) that allows one to scroll through one of 3 modes per press. First is lcd, the next is vga port and the next is lcd + vga port.
My first guess though would guess and say that some one set the resolution wrong or driver issue, so go into safe mode and check them firstGOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0 -
Is there a key combination to do screen brightness (Ctrl + up arrow, or something)?0

This has sometimes happened to my laptop if it's been on a while, so if it helps...I leave my laptop alone for about 30 mins to cool down, disconnect it and everything and then it works fine, otherwise the using another monitor is a good idea to check it all out.
Also another thing, maybe take the battery out of the back and that may help...I hope it all gets sorted for you!Wins for 2022: Hydratem8 Water bottle, diary, flowers, Good food show tickets, childrens books x3,
Thanks to all who post the comps & please let the comping fairy sprinkle dust on my entries!0 -
Even on the lowest bightness setting on a acer you will see the screen.
Try pressing Fn+F6
Thats is the key with "Fn" written in blue at the same time as the F6 key ar the top.0
