I was hoping that someone could explain why the 6th Jan is so widely held as the 12th day of Christmas. Could it actually be the 12th day AFTER Christmas rather than the the 12th day OF Christmas?
The 6th Jan is Epiphany and represents the day on which the Magi visited Jesus with their gifts

In some traditions, the first day of Christmas begins on the evening of December 25th with the following day considered the First Day of Christmas (December 26th). In these traditions, the twelve days begin December 26 and include Epiphany on January 6.

Doesn't say which traditions though

I need to ask fb experts a question please :)

Is there a way to set something on fb so it doesn't show on my profile when I'm posting on the MSE Dieters Group as it echos back there what I'm doing & saying? I've just manually deleted them but would prefer to set it so they don't show at all?

I'm a bit lost with fb, only know the very basics, some Lush Pass the Parcel stuff & some My fairyland stuff!

    Thanks!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

Scroll mouse over settings - top right corner - click on application settings & find groups there & change the settings there :D Next to groups choose edit settings then tick "never publish any stories" - no-one will see when you write in a group :D

PS Even if you delete manually, it may still stay visible on others feeds about you for a little while.
  • VG I think maybe youre friends will still see ,i fyou go into profile and have look around there

This one gives reasons for the 6th as well:

Thus, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" starts off with "On the first day of Christmas . . ." because it was thought wrong when it was written for Christians to sing Carols outside of Church before Boxing Day. So, being a very proper young lass, the subject of the Carol would open the first gift that her true love had sent on Boxing Day. That "true love" represented God who had sent Jesus to be born the day before, and all the gifts sent on the subsequent days of Christmas were gifts disguised in the words of the song that came to all believers from God through his son Jesus Christ.

Thanks catz, your first link is very interesting but also still makes it quite confusing as it also says "The Twelfth Night is January 5th, the last day of the Christmas Season before Epiphany (January 6th). In some church traditions, January 5th is considered the eleventh Day of Christmas, while the evening of January 5th is still counted as the Twelfth Night, the beginning of the Twelfth day of Christmas the following day. Twelfth Night often included feasting along with the removal of Christmas decorations"
Looks like no-one has a definitive answer.
