Bumping is basically just replying to posts to say unecessary things like 'I have entered' or 'thanks' etc..., thus bumping the post to the front page, making you think it's a new comp and also knocking the newer comps to the back pages.

I have the pages ordered by thread start time not last post so am not affected by bumpers normally... but I've just been to look and there are loads!!!

Nah not a default, but it would be good if we could - just when I open MSE in the morning I set it to that so it stays like it all day (I just keep refreshing). It does mean I miss out on any conversations within competition threads that I don't subscribe but I can live with that!
