My Debt-Free Plan...HOOS and the Case of the Incredible Exploding Oven!! :-o

  • LOL, I had the same thing last week at Halifax, almost crapped myself thinking that they were going to pull my overdraft, especially after reading the forums on here and similar things happening to others! I replied with if I had any money to save I would have opened one a long time ago lol. The other one I get is 'you are showing as eligible for a credit card with us'. Like I need to get myself further into debt! Irresponsible fools.

How are things with annoying housemate? My other male housemate does exactly the same thing re slamming doors, it doesn’t matter what time of day or night it is, he just slams doors. I often want to slam his head into the door. Oh dear, I’ve started again :rotfl:

Note to self: never have Male house mates. lol

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!
  • He he I would indeed like to slam his head in the door! Stupid boy.

I was away over the weekend (dog & cat sitting for a friend) so avoided the house-stress for a few days, which was nice :) It's true that pets do help lower your blood pressure...except when kitty is batting you in the face with her paw at 7am asking for brekkie!!! :-o

The annoying one has now taken to ticking stuff off the rota despite not actually doing it, or doing what amounts to about 1/5 of it. For example, he had "Hallways & living room" on the list, which involves throwing flyers/junk mail in the recycling, sweeping, hoovering, mopping & dusting. Not unreasonable. (and written quite clearly on the rota!) So you can understand my frustrations when all he did was mop the floor. Without sweeping it. So rather than being dirty, it's then dirty AND wet. Marvellous.

I feel a bit meanspirited in whinging about it, because at least there is now proof that he knows where the mop is. But I can't help but feel a little cheated!!!

He also didn't do the previous week's job, and then "did" it the day after other housemate had (and I have to say, did a good job of it) cleaned the kitchen. But all he did, again, was mop the floor! Other housemate was livid when he saw it crossed off on the rota, I can't repeat what was said on here due to the forum rules, but let's just say the air in the kitchen was somewhat blue!

It's seriously like being a mum to teenagers. I just cannot be AR S ED telling people how to behave any more! I'm making plans to get him out of here within the next 2 or so months (I've got a lot going on health/workwise at the moment, so I'd rather at least wait til I'm back in work in case I have to lose any pay over this) i.e. having a quick word with my brother (his mate) to explain that there may be an eviction, as I don't want him running off to call me for allsorts to my brother without him knowing the score. I hadn't said anything so far out of respect for their friendship, but my dad has encouraged me to have a word before it all kicks off. Probably a good move, I don't want this affecting my relationship with my brother.

In other, debt-related news, it's payday tomorrow (woohoo) but wont be able to pay as much off the debts this month as I have been doing :( due to oven-related spending and dental bills, but should still be able to overpay a bit and will be busy on the old ebay trail trying to get a few extra pennies. Every little bit helps so I'm not going to get disheartened by it and, excluding any new explosions/breakdowns/disasters, should be back on track in May.

  • Thanks Lucielle - let's hope I can keep this up!

Kas - believe it or not, that's almost what the rota is like!!! I'm right in thinking that a supposedly mature and responible 24year old should just *know* this stuff, right?? I mean, he didn't live in a seaside cave for 24 years before moving in here!!!
  • "This is a door. We shut it in a reasonable way. Especially at 3am"

"This is a shower mat. We use it when we get out of the shower."

"This is my fist. It punches people in the face when they just continue behaving like a four year old and push me beyond the boundaries of reasonable responses"
  • I would just like to clarify, I do not punch *actual* four year olds in the face. That would be quite wrong.
