Despite me putting up a notice reiterating what we agreed at the house meeting, and pointing out that 24 hours is, in fact, 1 day. Still there.I am becoming obsessed about dishes.
so basically he's ignoring you or it's 'in one ear out the other' - either way it's not good.
Hmmmmm - maybe start charging him for clearing up/tidying after him - £10 an hour - that should help get the debts down more quickly......and if it hits him in the pocket maybe he'll do something about it. Doesn't help your arm though (so you'll have to do it slowly...;) ) and he should be old enough to have some responsibility for himself/his mess.
Not really sure why he's still there - you must be a saint...:AI think he'd be happier in a student house (although I'm sure students are tidier:rotfl: )
essexgal;)old enough to know better, young enough not to care;)0 -
Ha ha definitely not a saint, just forced to be reasonable due to financial circumstances. I'm under a bit of pressure from parents/boyfriend to hang on for a month or so to see how things are with work before I kick him out.
Makes sense I guess as I run the risk of being £300 down a month at a time when I'm not in a great position job-wise. I know they *shouldn't* do anything stupid like try to fire me or penalise me for an injury they caused, but it's happened before in our place and I may have a fight on my hands when I go back in a month or so's time.
As soon as things are settled I'm gonna seriously consider giving him the boot. He's really doing my head in now. I don't think I can make things any less ambiguous than "Do your dishes within 24hours of using them, no arguments" but apparently there's still room for confusion!!! You're right, either he's beyond stupid, or he's just sticking two fingers up at me.
I've sorted the dishes out now, his stuff is in his own cupboard. The 24hour rule still stands but at least now I wont be bothered when the dishes are sat in a box in the yard having not been washed.0 -

He he - I've considered making them pay for a cleaner if they don't start doing the cleaning. Why should I pay for it when I was prepared to do my share?0 -
Well, the dishes were moved this morning and a note left in the kitchen to say that I had separated the dishes out and that he is not to use my dishes as I'm sick of them being left dirty. I also said that I am fed up of having to clean my pans/baking trays before I can use them so I want them CLEANED after use.
I then went out to do my mystery shop, it's a bus & train ride away, so I figured to get some exercise and save some money, I would walk the bus part both ways, saving £3.20 and having a lovely walk in the gorgeous weather(I would have walked the train bit, but it goes under a river and I've not yet figured out the whole walking on water thing...)
Put my pedometer on and I did 14542 steps, burned of nearly 1,000 calories (allegedly...probably not totally accurate) and walked over 10k! Yay.
Came back in & got ready for dance class (how much of an exercise freak have I been today?!) and as I'm sat in the living room, annoying lodger comes in an reads the note in the kitchen behind me. Cue huffing and slamming of kitchen door, and a rubbish attempt at storming off (flounced out of the room, but in doing so knocked the broom & swiffer mop over, so had to shuffle back in going "er...hm...sorry". Div.)
BUT I came back tonight and he'd actually cleaned up after himself, so being a b*tch clearly does work!!!
My dad has offered to have a word if his behaviour doesn't improve (bless!) but I said if his behaviour doesn't improve the only word you'll need to say is "goodbye".
I also sorted my council tax direct debits for this year like a proper grown up on the actual day the bill arrived!! No payment in April, then 11 payments of £91, a big improvement on the £125 a month I ended up paying last year. The non-payment next month will help cushion the blow from the oven exploding, yay.0 -

Been home for mother's day weekend, very nice
Annoying lodger has avoided coming out of his room while I'm in the house since I changed the dishes. But he's washing his dishes. I care not a jot about the whole hiding in the room thing so long as my kitchen is mank-free!
Had a chat with nice lodger before & he's getting annoyed with him as well. Apparently he phoned him at 2am this morning (Monday morning!! :-o), nice lodger didn't answer (cause he was confused!!) but texted him in the morning to ask if everything was ok, and he hasn't texted back or said anything to him! Freak.
He's just come home now and is inconsiderately slamming doors despite it being 11:30 and me and nice lodger both being in our rooms. Selfish boy.
Fridge rota been followed by me and nice lodger this week, hurrah, so most of my house is nice and clean, which pleases me!
Money ok, not spent too much this weekend despite mother's day and going to see my friend to welcome her little baby boy to the gang!I must say he's a little heartbreaker, almost had me broody. Almost. For about 5 minutes.
Been to see OH GP today, was a bit scared (always feel like I'm being interrogated with this kind of stuff) but she was fine, and when she examined my hand she said "Ooh, it's very tender there isn't it? You can feel where it's inflamed" which, although it's bad that my arm is still sore, I was kinda pleased that she could find evidence of the problem, other than me going "Ow it hurts", just makes me feel vindicated I guess.
Other than that, not too much to report, off for my afternoon of pamering tomorrow, can't wait!!0 -

What a shame that you have had to do this to get him to cooperate. But I guess he really WAS that thick skinned and oblivious before. And sad to say I bet it only lasts until the next time he comes in drunk.....
good luck with it, but pls make this his VERY LAST chance
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks Chev, trust me it is...no more Miss Nice HOOS!!
Just come back from my pampering day...ahhhhhhhhhhhh. I don't think I have ever been this relaxed, it was beautiful!! Ultimate manicure, facial and then full body massage! (thank god I wasn't paying for it!!!) it was so nice, I've never had a facial or full massage before, the facial was pure bliss, the mask was the best bit, it smelt like vanilla ice-cream!!!
Am going to chill out of the rest of the evening. If anyone gives me any sh*t I am simply going to respond with "A lot of money has been spent this afternoon on making me relaxed. I will deal with you tomorrow." He he.0 -
Had a heartstopping moment when paying some cheques in to the bank this morning "Ah, Miss HOOS, there's a note on your account..."
Cue palpitations, sweating, hyperventilation, while rabidly trying to figure out which financial mishap I didn't plan for??!!
"...do you have an ISA with Shatwest?"
Whaaaaaaaa??? When I slowed my racing heart down I replied with a feeble "no" and sloped exhaustedly out of the bank. I'm sure they do it on purpose.
Went to meet my friend for a coffee at lunch, got bus there as it was pouring down, but the sun had come out by the time I was heading home, so I walkedsaved £1.60 and walked 7000 (ish) steps! Hurrah. Been out for a quick run this morning and going to dance tonight so am superduper healthy today! (We will ignore the double shot latte I had with my friend.)
