I'd like to sit at work doing nothing all day but collecting just £25k... flexi time would be welcome too. And those extra bank holidays, oh and a pension. Sports and social club? Is there a subsidised canteen and parking too?

    I can start Monday.

Alfie Patten becomes a father at 13 after one night of unprotected sex

"Alfie Patten, 13, and his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman, 15, decided to keep Maisie who was conceived after one night of unprotected sex.

Alfie, who is just 4ft tall, hasn't yet hit puberty and was 12 when the baby was conceived"

No credit crunch for this pair. The council house, the benefits, the ciggies - smart, very smart. Now they have one, why not another 4 or 5 to get the cash really rolling in. Let's hope they don't get greedy and do a 'Sharon Mathews'.

Mate, you are going give yourself a coronary. And I am not being snide or anything....just saying.
Best to just turn the page as there is nothing you can do about it on a practical level.

Only way to change Govt policy is to join a party, start out standing for local council and one day, you could be an MP, and then you can try to direct policy from your own stance.

It is a problem though fc. These changes in society are getting more and more extreme and there's no sign of any reversal on the horizon. We have to feel disturbed about it.

I heard the boy interviewed and when asked about financial arrangements for his child, he didn't know what the interviewer meant.

What's the likelihood of a prepubescent child being fertile anyway, for goodness sake

You forgot one thing though - if you are a proper councillor/MP and have people like me in your ward you have to do some work.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

If you think that joining a party is a way of "CHANGING " government policy your very naive. The problem with this country is "PARTY" politcs.:rotfl:

Join a party, get elected, take the party whip and do as your told, even if its NOT in the interests of your constituants. All you will have done is sold your soul. It makes no difference which party, they are there to promote themselves, slag off the opposition , NOT work for the benefit of the country..

    SHAME ON THEM ALL.DECEITFUL-CORRUPT-SPONGERS .
  • These pieces of filthy scum should be put down. Take the baby away and let a proper childless couple have her.

Then put the parents and grandparents in prison. the father has raped the mother (she is under 16) the mother has raped and inflicted child abuse on the 12 year old father. she was 15 and he was 12 - she is clearly mental.

The parents of both these kids should be put away for letting it happen.

However, the reality in this dirt hole of a country is rather than be punished and made a show of, they will just keep on getting more and more free money and free houses, while the mugs work to pay for it.

    This is sickening.

Problem with the internet is that it is difficult to give a tone to the words.

I just read that back and it's too simplistic.

My old dad is just to about to resign from many years in local govt. He was/is leader of the opposition party with very few seats....never stood a chance of taking that council...ever.
However, local politics is often more about local issues, so he has worked with 'the opposition' for many years sorting out things of local importance. They are quite a wise old group on the whole, and, often end up battling the Govt over things that they want to change.

He went through all the stages of a wannabe politician....even turning down the opportunity to stand for MP many years back for personal reasons.

He concluded that his later years were all about the local area and if he could get short stay parking on the local high st, then that was a good thing. He couldn't stop wars or the bigger things but could make a lot of impact on the little things.

He is stopping as the govt has changed the rules on council decision making recently. AIUI, 2 labour and 1 opposition would sit and work out certain local policies but that is now changing so that a member of the opposition can't be included in the debate and decision process.
I know I should google the law and find the link for 'proof' but can't be ar£ed right now.

I don't know if he is still going to be a trustee on the pension though. He has saved them a packet in rip off fees and commissions.

I confess to having given it a go some years back....not for me at all...too wishy washy and too much faffing about. I prefer to get on and do things.

I'm not particularly political now as most parties have a bit of this and that that I could agree with.

I'm sticking with The Power of One at the mo.
