Excellent post. This government has worked so it has removed the pride from most people.
There are few people on here including myself whose parents held down 2 or more jobs to make ends meet so were brought up knowing you have to work to get things. Now parents don't have to and while the children win because they see their parents more, they lose out as most of what you learn as child is by what you seeing what the adults around you are doing.
My parents both worked - despite the inconvenience this caused. They also kept their child producing activities to just lil' ole me.
I grew up with a clear understanding that it was working hard that got you on in life - not just in monetary terms but also in terms of self esteem and fulfilment.0

Talking of benefits I went to that entitled to website and looked to see what I can claim as a working single person with no kids. NOTHING. I then tried it as an unemployed person with 2 kids and I would have to earn 18K to match the income. Kids could be arranged and my job is becoming less attractive day by day. Why shouldn't I join Brown's nation of welfare people?
You seem to forget their "income" also has feed wash clothe educate look after blah blah blah the two kids! If your thinking of having kids to get extra money your a fool as once they come along every penny and spare minute you have will be consumed rapidly life with kids is fantastic they are the one thing that never fail to make you smile each and everyday but its no walk in the park!!!!!I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

I think that this is extreme cases since my o/h was made redundant we get hardly anything!!!
We have a 2yo and a 12wko we get £30 pw cb £100 pw CTC and about £80pw JSA.
Which is under £11000 for the 4 of us!!
I am looking for work although I am reluctant as I am Breast feeding and would have to stop plus I couldn't stand to put a baby in nursery etc..
You should perhaps also be getting housing benefit and council tax benefit?
You don't have to stop BF just because you go back to work. I expressed for my son until he was 13 months old....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Are you sure about this? I thought visas are not necessary within the EU? And I know loads of EU nationals who live in public housing..........I thought that they had the same rights as UK citizens.
No wonder you are confused - I idiotically left off the "non". "Non-EU" nationals need visas, and can't just claim benefits or get public housing. Sorry!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

"Polish workers are using EU rules to make sure they can keep receiving handouts which are worth DOUBLE what they would get back home. They are being given master classes in how to obatin them. At least 50,000 Poles have left Britain in just three months because of the economic downturn, government figures show. And Polish job centres have now started courses to tell people how to claim benefits, according to daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza..."source Metro.co.uk 4th November 2008
Polish workers are from the EU. Non-EU peeps can't get any of those....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

For the same reason, I'm not too bothered about what EU citizens get. My taxes go to pay benefits to all EU citizens (including British ones) so for me it doesn't really make a difference which country they are from. I'm sure I would mind if I was a British citizen though!...
What does bother me is that some people assume that non-EU immigrants are the root of all evil. It is not that easy to immigrate to the UK legally and we certainly don't get any public funds when we do. Asylum seekers and refugees may do but I don't think anyone would prefer they were sent back to certain death in their own countries..
I think the problem is that people here think that we are British and not part of the EU nor do we want to be, so why should we support everyone in the EU. We already have loads paid into the EU coffers as it is and we don't get much EU money back for us.
I don't assume non EU immigrants are the root of all evil. Its much harder to get into the UK from outside the EU. As it should be. It is not easy for me to get into the USA, Oz, or Canada and this is correct. I would need a skill and trade that they need and to bring something to the country. Visas are hard to get and expensive. What I do have a problem with is that because of the EU thing, those people in the EU do not have to go through all those hoops to enter the UK as those outside do. This is wrong in my opinion. We were conned it was supposed to be just a trading agreement the common market, not this.0

Yes but the chavs fail to understand this. They're either too stupid to realise it or just rely on mum 'n' grandmum.
You see it all the time 4 generations of chav walking down the high street....granny ambling along with fag in mouth next to.....fat daughter with tatoos and fag in mouth next to...fat daughter with bleached hair and fag in mouth pushing pram whilst on mobile phone to criminal boyfriend, whilst pushing next generation of criminal sucking on a day old bottle of formula with sugar in it!!All paid for by the taxpayer!!0

I know. They are a pain in the backside. A lot of work. How much do you think one child costs you annually on average? I know it does vary from age and the skys the limit when it comes to birthdays etc but being sensible and frugal how much will one cost you per year? If you have two then you can do hand me downs etc to save money. I still think I wouldn't spend all the benefits I could claim for having them on them. Its amazing how many single parents still somehow find the money for the top wack Sky TV subscription with all the movie channels and sport etc, with flat screen TV etc.You seem to forget their "income" also has feed wash clothe educate look after blah blah blah the two kids! !!!!!0
