You get the same problem in some older multi-story car parks. The parking spaces are usually determined by the distance between the concrete pillars. When these were built the usual layout was three parking spaces between a pair of pillars. That worked twenty years ago. But now, with larger cars, those spaces are very tight. The only solution is to only have two spaces between each pillar, but, of course, you then drastically reduce the capacity of that car park.

    Epsom is very bad.

I'm a good parker & I can get my car in any tight space, but I can't get out of the car then:rolleyes:

Lots of spaces are so tight with modern cars that you can't open doors properly or even normally, surely this can't be right?

All spaces need to be widened.

House built in the 1970's with a double garage. Even with all the c**p we have in the garage, we can still get 2 cars in. The Accord and Lexus 300 both fit in, but I have noticed that as the weight has piled on, it is a bit more difficult to get out and as a result I am starting Slimming World today.

Stick old strips of carpet to the garage-then you can risk parking "tight"!
  • I can just about squeeeeeeeeeeeeeze out.

Garage completely empty (apart from carpet up the wall to protect the doors), car is 10 year old Ford Fiesta, self slimmish.

Interesting to read the minimum dimensions from the poster above. I'd like to claim that my life is too interesting and busy to measure my garage..... but in all liklihood I'll be out there with a tape measure before the day is over :D:D
