Put you and your family on someone's floor and you'll be "not adequately homed" it'll push you up the queue quicker.

Edit: apart from the fact if you give up housing voluntarily it's your problem still.

Get evicted - probably the only way.
  • His Council tax is high, but if he's in Scotland (assuming from reference to Perth) don't forget that Scottish Water collect their water payments through council tax so that cost is included. No separate water bills. But still, it seems a little high. And as mentioned, renting from council isn't necessarily going to be much cheaper. Around here, council rent is around £350 a month for a 2 bed semi. Those fuel costs need to be looked at. And income from tax credits don't look to have been included. His situation is probably similar to many many people in this country. You either have to decrease outgoings or increase incomings.

You know that card meters are more expensive than just getting a bill? Phone the leccy company and tell them to switch you to billing.

Pop over to the debt-free wannabe and old-style boards and you'll find lots of other advice and information about saving money. You might find that simple economies could more than make up for the additional rent each month!

its still a bit on the high side
im in scotland and if paying full price our CT would only be 100 a month and thats for a band B property (west lothian)

if the OP is paying 160 a month over 10 months then according to this website he would be in a band F property http://www.pkc.gov.uk/Council+and+government/Council+tax/Council+tax+-+banding/Council+Tax+Banding+and+Charges.htm
