Thanks angelflower. I too am off to bed, but will definately be back on tomorrow and will get that SOA done for then. I'll try and include all details of creditors I have outstanding also (but i won't have payment arrangements in place for these yet).
Thanks again for all your help, much appreciated. I'll work on the letter too tomorrow.0 -
Hi
Just a quick comment, but if you can attend court, then that way if the judge wants to ask you anything your there, if your worried about getting toungue tied, do a written letter.
In the paperwork bundle, make sure you can prove overpayments have been made and the agreement has been kept to, the more you can provide the more you have to back you up.
Def worth doing the SOA as sometimes 2 peoples eyes are better than 1. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thanks guys, for all help so far. I am going to do the SOA today (in between trying to concentrate on work!), so hopefully you can all help me with that.
As for attending court - I am going to be there. I have spoken to Shelter this morning, and she gave me some good advice. I have tried the CAB, but they are closed until the 5th, also a local solicitor, but they are closed until the 2nd, and I phoned the Housing Team at the local council, but they couldn't help. So I'm a bit worried, and scared to death of attending court, even though it's my own fault, I have ended up in this position. I guess it'll teach me to get my head out of the sand and stop ignoring things.0 -

Make sure you make this payment if at all possible, even if they refuse to accept it with the hearing pending as this will virtually wipe out the arrears and may just prove to the court you are seriously trying to pay this off.Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -

Hiya, thanks for your reply. I will definately be able to make the payment, I just don't know how much at the moment, it will be between £300 - £400 (I have to wait for my car to come out the garage!). I am very serious about paying it off (and everything else). I just have to learn to prioritise - this may be the wakeup call I need. I'm just hoping the court doesn't make an outright order thats all

we have just been through the EXACT same situation hunni! we have £1500 rent arrears (in social housing) and were taken to court, we were 100% honest about the situation, and how we had got into arrears, made an offer of overpayment, and the judge has suspended the order for 3 months to see if we keep up the payments then the order will be scrapped.
it IS possible for you to keep your house, but leave your pride outside the court be COMPLETELY honest and make sure you make an offer that you can afford. the judge is there to be impartial, they will listen to both sides of the story, we had arrears before this too, and defaulted on the arrangement.
i hope everything goes well for you, and if you are making a payment of £350 before the court date, this should also go in your favour x0 -

Thanks guys
Hi
I've made a few suggestions by your out goings, I take it you only have one payment to go to the court, so if we added that £40.00 onto ehats left from your figures, that leaves you £218.00 pm to pay on debts, consider the suggestions I've made with a few nip and tucks you could easily add £100.00 per month to the debts.
Without being nosey your 10k debt, could you break that down further, not necessary naming cards etx, vould say debt 1, £1,000 29.9% apr min payment £10.00
There may be a way that you could sort these debst out yourself. x
Ps
Well done on getting the SOA up,its a massive step in the right direction, and dont worry about the past, the future is what you have to look forward to as a debt free future xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Council tax............................. 65 - can you try from next yrs bil to spread the payment ocer 12 months I think my bill is already spread over 12 months, but I will have to confirm this.

Mobile phone............................ 30 - this needs to be looked at, are you near end of a contract, could you go sim only gd deals (tmobile, cashback through Quidco), or pay and go My phone is PAYG already, I have to put £30 a month on it to get unlimited texts
TV Licence.............................. 35 -is that on a 4 mth scheme, can you get that over 12 months Again, I will have to check, I think it is Quarterly.
Satellite/Cable TV...................... 36 (sky and BT Vision - I can't cancel either
) - how far are you in contract Almost at the end of Sky, but I cancelled my DD a month ago, so they are chasing me saying I've breached contract, and BT Vision - I need to check whether this is a Contract - does anybody know?
Internet Services....................... 24.99 - can you look into changeing providers, either tie up with sky, bt, may be cheaper in the long run I have just renewed by BB for 18 months with BT, I don't think I can cancel?
Groceries etc. ......................... 200 - too high for one person, pop over to the old style board, consider batch baking, eg, mince, chilli con carne, shephers pie etc There is myself and my little girl, is it still too high?
Clothing................................ 50 - even if you half this, needs to be reducred - Again, its mainly things for her, she's 8 and grows constantly, uniform, shoes etc
Petrol/diesel........................... 45
Road tax................................ 10

Haircuts................................ 0
I am going to write a letter to the Court asking for a postponement, can anybody help with the wording? I am doing it because I haven't been able to find anybody to represent me in Court and I feel that if given another 2 weeks, I will be able to clear the arrears completely.
Thanks guys.0 -
Hi
Sorry didnt realise you had dd, just a thought re ur phone, just a thought I know its contract but if you have a TMobile sim only card, for £20 pm its unlimiyed texts and included calls, think you can take your phone number across.
Sounds like your tv license is quarterly, so that should be £12 per month.
The groceries, re old style board they have suggestions on cooking with things u have, when you go shopping try downgrading a level, eg branded to store brand.
re - the court, I homestly dont know whether u would be able to get a postponement urself, the best thing to do is push the finances through asap, to show that what ever happened you have turned things around.
