    Part 2.......

Further break your money down to weekly amounts,

    wk 1
    wages - 200
    extras in - 100

    total - £300 the week.

Look at what has to be paid
    rent 75
    council tax 8.50
    gas - 20
    elec -20

    Week 2
    incomings this week £200
    £75 - rent
    £8.50 council tax
£20 - gas - even if you do not need the gas, put the money by or on meter, then you have less chance of worrying about it
£20.00 0 elec - same principle as gas

Sorry if it sounds so simple, but by breaking it down to weekly, then that way at the start of the month, say week 1 is gas, week 2 is elec, week 3 presents, week 4 - haircuts.

  • Hi mum2one - thanks a lot, it does sound simple yes, but its also a really good idea, and very helpful as at the moment I get paid weekly, so might be easier to manage.
Think I need to sit down tomorrow (when I'm more awake!) and go through payments going in and out, and compile some kind of spreadsheet.

Would it be best to start a new thread, rather than keep it on this one...might be easier to follow?

Id personally keep it on the same thread -
In such a short time you have achieved so much - good motivator, if you feel down you look at what you have achieved.

Apologies again for the basics of my ideas, it might take a few attempts to get the outgoings the right way around, but if your like me I get CB + Tax Credits as 4 weekly payout, ok in theory I get them once a month, but 1 month a year I get a double payment, so from this yr I'm using those double payment months to chuck at the debt, as in theory there a bonus. xx

  • Ok, I wondered if a new thread with a different title might be easier to follow that's all, but I see what you mean about acheived a lot in a little time. I'm quite proud (and also very relieved).

Please don't apologise, all/any ideas given are much appreciated. As I say, I'll give it a go tomorrow, think I'll need a clear head! Just quickly though, I get tax/child credits every Wednesday, Child Benefit 4 weekly on a monday, and get paid every friday, so trying to keep track of everything is a bit of a nightmare - not that that is any excuse for letting things get out of hand though :)xx

You could just update your thread title.....perhaps just add 'the next chapter' in the title so people know that you are now on your journey..

Congrats on your success - although I personally would have been happier if the other side had turned up and the judge had given them a verbal slap....

Good luck in the future....hope things are on the up for you.

That's great news. As far as I'm aware if a case is struck out it basically means the case has been thrown out of court - you have no order against you and you should not be liable for any fees or costs incurred by the HA.

Basically, as they couldn't be bothered turning up to put the case to the judge then he won't award anything against you! Bad form from the HA not to turn up especially when they had been talking to you about it as early as the day before! Good news for you but I'm sure you could have done without all the stress!

For the future - priority debts are always rent/mortgage and Council Tax! After that I'm sure there is an accepted order but I don't know what it would be! And also a lesson for the future - any problems paying your rent any week, talk to the HA. :)

Good luck with getting all your debts sorted for the future.

  • Ok so I'm going to attempt to do yet another SOA, but split into two parts this time, suggested by mum2one ;).

    Part One:-

    January
    Total Amount in = £1619

    Outgoings:
    Rent - £272.20 - due on 9th/16/23/30
Gas - isn't due until Feb
Electric - Meter, has about £2.00 left
Food - £160 - go shopping every Saturday, don't have a freezer, so buy fresh
Petrol - Fill up when it gets just under 1/4 full - usually about £30 a time - needs doing now
    Gym - £58 - due on the 8th Jan
    Landline - £15 a month, 23rd Jan
Broadband - £25 a month, paid every three months, think its due feb
Mobile - £10 a month, PAYG - put £10 on it at start of Jan, got 300 free messages now, so okay until the start of feb.
Work Money - £15 a week, for lunch, coffee, etc.
    Love Film - 1st Jan - 9.99
    Council Tax - £65 - 24th Monthly
    Contents Insurance - £8.65 - 15th
    Car Insurance - £25.55 - 7th Feb
    Car Breakdown - 8th Jan - £9.85

These are the things I pay monthly that I can remember. I know I don't put money aside for things like car maintenance, birthdays, insurance renewal etc and I probably should do :)

So looking at the above, I should have loads of money spare this month, but I know I won't have, I never do. I get myself in a complete mess because I get paid different things at different points in any given month and because I have things coming out at very different times!
  • Part 2:-

Week 1 has pretty much already gone, and I didn't get any money in anyway, so I shall ignore that.

    Week 2 (w/e 9th) - Money In = £446
    Out - Rent - £68.05
Need to Pay Gym as it's overdue - £58
Need to pay arrears on rent - £71
Need to pay o/s balance on Court Fine - £90 ish
    Car Breakdown Insurance - £9.85
    Food Shopping - £40

Total for week two = £336.90

    Week 3 (w/e 16th) - Money In = £441
    Out - Rent - £68.05
    Food - £40
    Contents Insurance - £10
    Petrol - £30
    Money for Work - £15

Total for week three = 163.05

    Week 4 (w/e 23) - Money In = £366
    Out - Rent - £68.05
    Food - £40
    Money for Work - £15
    BT Landline - £15
    Council Tax - £65

    Total for week four £203.05

    Week 5 (w/e 30) - Money In - £366
    Out - Rent - £68.05
Haven't allocated yet for Broadband which I think is due in Feb, for 2 months, so close to £75
    Food - £40
    Gas - £30

Total for week five = £213.05

Now, whilst I appreciate there is no doubt a lot I have left out, that only brings my total for jan to £916.05. So I should have at least £500/£600 too pay off debts with. Is there anything screamingly obvious I have left out you can think of?
My Car Insurance is due at the end of February, as is my MoT and Tax. Its my 30th in Feb so I want to go out for that (if possible). I just need a figure I can approach PayPlan with, as I don't want to tell them a figure and then not be able to afford it. Also my daughter has a school trip in May that needs paying for, so I need £140 for that also.

As I've said before, all help greatly appreciated. ;) xx

    Hi

I've just had a look at your weekly / monthly and ur original SOA, the breakdown of the figures looked realy gd.

I've done some calculations based on all the figures, in ur case Jan is the catch up month, so in theory you may spend more out in Jan, less for debts, but honestly Feb will be a lot easier.

Worked on the basis of what u want to pay, sums with * by them, put the money in a seperate bank account, (grab a notebook say you put £100 in, you could then account for where every £1.00 needs to be, council tax, water rates etc)

    we 9th Jan (wk 2)
    Incomings £446.00
