I have used my full £3K cash ISA limit as per Martin’s advice.
I have an A&L online series 1&2 account, on which I pay tax.
Does anyone know of any comparison tables for the next £4K that can be put in an ISA and about the different types (inc. pros and cons) and their comparisons with the gains to be made from an online account such as the A&L or other similar accounts?

Welcome to the site,
You don't sound sure about wanting to invest in shares. I wouldn't let the tax tail wag the investment dog - i.e. don't end up in shares/equities just because of the phrase "tax free".
Is this £4K money you are happy to tie up for 5+ years - in case the stock market drops?
You can't really compare net cash rates with stock market investments or bonds where there is more risk and potential reward.
Money Observer (in any WH Smith) has past performance figures for unit trusts but past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future.

If you click on the fund names you also get details of the fund, past performance and you can see if there has been any recent change of manager or if it is invested in tobacco companies etc.0 -

You cannot compare the other 10,000 odd investment funds available for a stocks and shares ISA in the same way as RI says.
Although its often referred to as a stocks and shares ISA, you dont have to have stockmarket investments in there. You can also have low risk things like gilts, fixed interest securities, corporate bonds and commercial property. These will tend to have lower long term growth but without the volatility of the higher risk funds.
You will see many suggestions on the web about where you should invest but they tend to forget that everyone has a different risk profile. You should invest to suit your risk profile and not anyone elses'.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Its hard to understand what you are looking for but possibly you are looking for a safe investment that pays a better return than a high interest savings account. In an ISA any gains in value will remain Capital Gains Tax Free.
Heres a link to some High Interest Funds in the form of a table. As dunstonh pointed out there are thousands to choose from. http://www.trustnet.com/ut/funds/perf.asp?sort=29&ss=0&txtS=&txtSS=&columns=&page=0&booIMA=0®=uk&sec=fin&ima=all&unit=all&type=all&gobutton=GoSurvivor of debt, redundancy, endowment scams, share crashes, sky-high inflation, lousy financial advice, and multiple house price booms. Comfortably retired after learning to back my own judgement.
This is not advice - hopefully it's common sense..0
