Oh yeah, do you think the council will 'recognise' that voters roll form from the 'aboumyvote.co.uk' website, as they might haven't seen it before?0 -

The credit reference agencies are in competition each year putting out a press release stating "this year we have been our own record in updating the roll". If it is not on the CRA file by the end of January you may have to ask them to load it on manually.0

Ok then. I was just worried that they won't, as when people move home, they call the council for one, which has a logo and all that kind of stuff on it. I have compared an outdated one from the council website, and the application from the 'aboutmyvote.co.uk' website, the layout is different, but the fields are the same. Also, I don't think many people will know about the 'aboutmyvote.co.uk' website to obtain a voters roll form.
Anyway, they will have seen it as you said.
On another note, I have read the council website stating that confirmation letters are available on request. A small charge will be needed for this. I find it quite odd, as I thought confirmation letters are sent out automatically, after a person is added to the voters roll.
I assume that it will take the council about 1 month to get my daughter up on the voters roll right? The credit reference agencies are in competition each year putting out a press release stating "this year we have been our own record in updating the roll". I didn't know about the competition thing.
Hopefully, they will do it automatically, since my daughter is opening an account soon.
Also, I assume if a person doesn't open a bank account, and on the voters roll, they would still be automatically added to the CRA file right?
Why would a person not be automatically loaded to the CRA file?0 -
Just checked experian's website and it has already been loaded!
http://press.experian.com/documents/showdoc.cfm
So any bank that uses experian should be able to see her on the electroal roll.
You dont get automatically loaded sometimes due to the property being a new build, or having a flat positon or maybe a name. It is very straight forward with "house number, street name, city, post code", but when it comes to the others the system cannot always match things up so they look it up manually and add it then.0 -

Quite quick of them for them to load the voters roll in record time. I remember that when registering during the canvas period (i.e. between September-November), people will be on the voters roll by December 1st. Clearly, it took them about 2 weeks or so to do this!
For example, do you think if a person registered outside the canvas period, will the CRA update their records as quick as if a person registered during the canvas period?
My daughter will be applying to either LTSB or Barclays (haven't decided which one yet). Do they use Experian?0 -
LTSB uses Experian and I think Barlcays uses both Experian and Equifax, but mainly Equifax for current accounts.
I used to work for Equifax a long long time ago entering the electoral roll, but then it was sent on paper and entered by hand. These days I think the Council's just email a large file and it is a simple data matching process.
I beleive they are pretty quick in updating peope who register on the "rolling register" which is now avaialbe throughout the year, it just depends when the Council passes the information over.0 -

Also, do you think they would call up to ask the following:- prooving that she is British
- prooving that she lives at the current address
- asking why my daughter didn't register in her previous address?
How often do the council call up people registering on the voters roll anyway? Do they check 'external sources' to check who you say you are in terms of citizenship and current address?
She has just finished completed the form, and sent it off. According to the council website, people who register to vote using the 'rolling register form', will take a month for her to be added after the processing and all that. Probably another month for them to send it to the credit reference agency (CRA)... Is this correct?
Would they send a confirmation letter out when my daughter is added to the voters roll? Or would this be at a cost?0 -
I have never heard of them asking but then my name is not foreign sound, neither are they likely to ask to prove she lives at her current address or ask why she never registered before. Normal they consider your signed declaration that is it fact and let it go at that. I have never received a letter saying my name has been added. Hope this is of some help.0

Since you say it's very quick for updating the 'rolling register' in the CRA, I assume it will take a few weeks instead a month?0
