I'm all for stockpiling particulary the things you can't eat.
How can you overuse items like toilet cleaner, toothpaste, soap, washing-up liquid, firelighters etc.
After reading the previous stockpilers comments I think I will join in and spend any spare money at the end of the month on such items but they must be on offer before I buy them.
Unfortunately my resolve with food is quite low so stockpiling those items is not for me - willpower and all that - I do wish I had more of it, I must have been on the back row when it was given out.January food 175.00 spent 181.60 oops nothing left. £4000 challenge/3384.49 leftheating oil £396.69,NSD 13/200 -
Bought apples, a little trifle (bad), and some spices and good marmalade from the local deli, which is closing down: £11.00. Spices would be cheaper at Indian grocery but it would mean a bus trip and take about 2 hours all up.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

I have managed my first nsd in absolutely ages and am well chuffed.....was going to nip to town this morning and get a lunch from boots with my points but it was just tooooo cold to take the littluns out so didn't bother...
I have just remembered it isn't actually a no spend day as I had to go buy a couple of birthday cards...but I did only do this and don't count this in my budget (am not feeling as good as I did but normally I would have popped into iceland on the way past and picked up a couple of 'bargains' that I probably don't actually need...
angelatgraceland - Thanks for your comments about the meat, think I will get it , like you said I try to go for the happy chicken as much as poss and have cut down on chicken, but my kids absolutely love it and at the moment, I just can't get them to eat much else!Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

I'd like to join. I aim to spend no more than £60 a week average."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

Local mobile butcher just rolled up and I spent £8.98.
Three big chicken breasts (2.99)
Three thick pork steaks in maple syrup marinade (2.99)
1lb pork and leek sausages (8) (2.99)
There's enough there for 7 meals (possibly 8 at a squeak) and I still have meat in the freezer. Think I paid too much for the sausages though - impulse buy goes wrong as usual.
Total for the month so far is £75.09. £24.91 left."carpe that diem"0 -
spent £2.48 at the local shop for 1l UHT milk to make yoghurt and a tin of golden syrup to make a syrup sponge for tea yumyum0

ok so i did meal plan last night based on what we already have. then i did shopping list, putting down only things i will need for a week.
so did shopping and it came to £31.86. i am so pleased. my shopping is never under £50. and thats only for myself, ds3.5 a cat and a dog. i did also have to buy a yard brush and a padlock for my new shed, but the padlock has to go back as its too big and my dad gave me an old one he had. plus i returned a pair of trousers and got £19.99 refunded to credit card, which btw i no longer am using since new year. also, i never usually look at wether im saving by getting asda sp but i did today and discovered that Dromona mild cheddar is cheaper than sp. i know its not strictly oldstyle but i wanted to share."it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick" - my dad, regularly throughout my childhood when I complained about something being too small/not perfect/not tasty/not what I wanted. he was right every time.0 -
well done you should pat yourself on the head:beer:I am at a Crossroads in my life and deciding which path to take:coffee:
