Can I please declare £417 for January? I know it's a huge amount compared to most of you, but it's more than £20 under my goal, so I know I can do loads better! :D I've still got all sorts in the freezer & am going to try some cheaper cuts of meat from my butcher for casseroles, etc.

Well, this was our first month of doing the challenge and it was more of an experiment to see just how much we do spend. I'd like to declare that we spent £222.21 out of our target £250! :T

I would like to declare my final spend for January is £325.60 £5.60 over budget :o

I'm actually quite pleased with this as it included OH and I having 3 days away (self catering) (we got engaged :j ) so obviously we had a few nice foodie treats.

Also the kids took cafeteria lunches on those 3 days which is more expensive than pack-ups

£142.78 for Jan for me. Very pleased :D Aiming for the same grocery budget for Feb, but it will be tighter as we don't have all the Christmas goodies left over!

    miserly_mum - CONGRATULATIONS on the engagement :D

I'm declaring at £168.46 for the month, which I'm really pleased with as the £170 was a guess. It may be harder this month, as though its a little shorter, I have to restock the freezer as the door wasn't closed properly, so quite a few things had to be cooked/thrown. Thankfully there wasn't too much in there as I'd been running it down to defrost. Off to February now!
