Hi, I think you need to look at changing suppliers. I have just looked at my gas bill as it was for exactly the same period as yours and I used 51 metric units, however, the cost for me was only £57.48 (before VAT and internet discounts). And almost 2 and 1/2 months of that was before I changed to Scottish Power's Online 7 tarrif (I was on SP's old online tariff previously) on 14 November, so my next bill will be even lower for the same usage.

Who is that post directed at?

You have either got your sums wrong or metric units mixed up with Imperial units.

51 metric units is approx 570kWh if you paid £57.48 it works out you paid over10p a kWh.

If they were Imperial units, then it would be 1,606kWh.

Sorry, it was directed at the OP. Have just checked and I don't think I meant metric units, it looks like my usage was 1,620KWh, does this make sense (I don't really understand metric and imperial units). If it does, then I still think the OP is paying over the odds compared to me. Do you agree?

You have an Imperial gas meter - not metric.

1 Imperial gas unit is 100 cubic feet which is approx 31.5kWh (this can vary slightly as the calorific value of the gas supplied varies)

So you have used 51 Imperial gas units.

It is not possible to say if the OP's gas is costing more than your gas without knowing the detail of both of your tariffs and consumption.

The amount of tier 1 units vary.

The discounts for Direct debit, paperless billing, dual fuel vary and can make a huge difference to the overall bill - some pay a large discount(£100) at the end of 12 months.

No 'one size fits all' answer I am afraid.
