I used to own a cheeky, 12.2hh, dartmoor (sire) x welsh sec b (dam), dapple grey pony. I'm still in touch with his old owners 6 years on and in touch with his current owners as well.
I'm pretty chuffed and excited as OH is now driving which means he will be able to drop me off at the stables (50+ miles away) so I can see my old lad and maybe ride whilst he goes and spends a few hours with his family and then he can come n pick me up.
Here's to saving up so I can afford lessons :T again

Aww that's great! I love horses & have a background with them, used to work with them & did NVQ's @ a stables/kennels & cattery. I'm hoping to train to be an Equine Vet Nurse soon! My Cousin has one but she's in Hampshire so abit far & my Aunt (Not Cousins Mum but on the other side of the family) has one but he's only 13.2hh & 30 something years old so too old & small for me to ride!
I'd quite like to work as a Jarvey!0 -
I have a 14.2 welsh/tb. She is 38 now and has been retired for the past 6 years, but was in work up till then. She is my very expensive pet now! I have piled on a load of weight since having my kids so I am currently trying to lose it all so I can ride again!
Would love to get another one and that is my aim for when I am debt free.

There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.0 -
I looooooooooove riding...I miss having lessons so much, but they are so flipping expensive. £20 for a half hour private lesson at one of my local stables, and I feel I need a few private ones before I get back into riding in classes. You could almost OWN a flipping horse on £20 a week lol. I am determined to make cutbacks this year in order to start riding again, I miss it so much! You are lucky you have a horse you can ride! OH is pretty cool to take you so far for visits too

I havent rode since January 2006 due to ill health so fingers crossed that I will be ok once up on the horse.
I've added a link to my website, in my profile, for anyone wishing to have a look. Its about horses.
Am glad Im not the only horsey person on here0 -
i adore horses. Been riding since i was 3 and competed every year, loved jumping and dressage . . right up until a 15.2 TB X came into the stables and i rode him. He spooked, tried to run THROUGH a fence, didnt even attempt to jump it!, he turned sidewards crushed my leg, i jumped off, he kicked me in the back a number of times into the fence and i damaged my bottom 3 vertebrae - oh i just LOVE wearing a back brace (!!) The owner of the stables also broke her arm that day trying to ride him too lol
I will be getting back on when i can but at the moment it's impossible

i have a pony, luckily when i got ill i was able to rent the field right outside of the house we live( same farmer own house n field) shes 16.3hh, very cheeky like a pony, i saved her from most likely being shot, as she was dangerous in every way, but, 8 years on, she is my most loyal friend,THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.0
