anyone have any info on pipex please?

Options
hi

wonder if anybody has any experience with pipex?

i am considering their pipex 1000 tariff for £19.99 for first 6 months, then £23.99. i thought the 1000 free calls was a bonus as i am currently paying talktalk £10 per month for unlimited national calls. 1000 is plenty!

am with wanadoo broadband at the moment for £22.99 per month but looking to have no download limits.

we are fairly heavy users, (7 of us at home!) and monthly talktalk bills now exceeding £40.00 so am hoping to save on these with pipex 1000 for landline calls and 18185 for mobile calls.

sorry this thread seems to cover 2 subjects at once!

any advice greatly appreciated

thanks!

I joined about a month ago with their Pipex Start product, which is capped and has 500 minutes.

    Fine so far - phone bill this month 1899 6p, Pipex 6p, 18185 47p

Imo, it doesn't matter who you opt for....someone somewhere will have had a problem with them.

For what it's worth, I've been with Pipex for just over a year and only had a problem when the speed upgrades were going on, although I think that may have been more to do with BT than Pipex.

I'm happy with them and haven't experienced any customer service problems some others seem to have had.

My package is an old one now (and therefore no longer very competitive), I'm loathe to change though as I'm happy with the service.

aliasojo, somewhere in the Adslguide forum are a couple of threads that existing customers negotiated a renewal offer of maybe 20 or 30 GB capped a month for £17 or £18.

It was a month or 6 weeks ago; I just had a quick look and didn't find them yet ...

Thanks redux. :) Not sure if capped would be any use though as there's 4 of us who practically live on the net. Will look into it though.

If you do call them, you can be waiting on hold for a while - worth knowing their area code number instead of 0870 ..... 01707299505

the 6p was 2 0870 fax calls (I think); for 01/02 calls you expect to be long, you can still use 1899

I should have thought of it sooner - I went to the Pipex board

    http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=pipex

and then did a search for £17.99

It probably depends how much audio/video downloads or games you do; you could use that NetMeter program to measure usage
