It all goes to the school only if the child is doing 5 sessions at the school. If not it can be split between different providers.
Does that depend on the LA? The school nurserys took all the funding regardless and wouldn't split it when my dd was nursery age. She is now rising 6 so it is a couple of years ago though.

I also have never heard of a school nursery that will let you go for only 3 days? The ones I have dealt with/worked in have always been 5 sessions or nothing.

Usually if a private nursery has a child attending for a full morning (0800 - 1300) the grant will cover 0900 - 1130, so you pay 0800 - 0900 and 1130-1300, and pay for breakfast and lunch also.

Also it is common for private nurseries to offer term time only places if they have a holiday club running during school hols, so they are happy to let the regulars off during the summer as the place can be filled by a school aged child.

I know this doesn't answer any of your questions, you will just have to ask the nursery manager to give you a breakdown of their fees (or ask them to break it down when they invoice you) and then you can keep that for future reference. Bear in mind though the prices usually go up a little bit every year!

Sorry I can't answer your actual question BUT I split my funding between the school pre-school & my daughters creche & this is OK. They don't mind as I pay for the extra sessions at pre-school. Also DD only does 3 sessions a week at pre-school, as I work 2 days & she attends the on site creche for those days, so again they are happy for this to happen.
