You can go through the 'Cheap Flights' link above and try the screenscrapers like Skyscanners to see what's available. A quick glance has shown Easyjet have availability MAN - TFS on Sunday at about £200 each, one way, leaving early afternoon. It is about a 4 hour flight and there is no time difference in the Canaries.

  • Don't worry about the difference between getting to Tenerife South or North - just get the first flight over there. It's not such a big island that you can't drive between the two easily - though I think most flights leave from Tenerife South these days.

Anyway, first of all, you should get in touch with the UK Consulate in Tenerife.

    24-hour emergency service
: out of office hours the Consulate telephone number +34 922 28 68 63 provides details on how to proceed in case of an emergency and to contact a duty officer if needed.
http://ukinspain.fco.gov.uk/en/our-offices-in-spain/consular-offices/tenerife-consulate/ is the website you need.

This will make sure that someone can check on your father and give him support/etc if required.

Then - your best bet is to go to Manchester Airport and see what you can do. It's quite possible that an airline might accomodate you for free/next to nothing when you explain the story. If not, you might find they can do you cheap flights anyway - so Manchester is by far the best bet. Liverpool might be significantly harder - as for instance, BA in Manchester might be able to route you Manchester-London-Madrid-Tenerife.

Good luck, I wish you all the best.

(NB : calling from the UK, the number will be 0034922286863)

Can you contact the cruise company office - they should be able to speak to the ship/ships doctor to find out where your mum was taken
Have you got accommodation sorted for when you get there.

My dad was taken into hospital in Cyprus many years ago and the holiday company were great with making contact, my mum ended up staying in the clinic too (they had a twin room) but I was advised not to bother trying to get over as there was nothing I could do and he was not in danger. He was discharged 2 weeks later and a doctor arranged by the insurance company accompanied them on the return.

Having had a quick post history search, I'm inclined to agree! ;)

I'm not sure which made me laugh more – being insulted by a taxi driver she was apparently stalking or assuming she could just up sticks and move to America whilst continuing to claim benefits...
