Ebay buyer chancing his arm?

Hi all,

I sold Guitar Hero 2 - in near mint condish, fully boxed with guitar, over 2 months ago on ebay.
Yesterday, I get a random email from the buyer demanding a refund right away as it "doesn't work" (and he wanted the refund the same day - no offer to return the goods)

Now, I know for a fact it worked perfectly - I'm a gamer, not some ebay store - anything I sell works 100%.
Also, why would anyone buy something (especially from ebay) and not test it at the time?

Personally I think he (or his son) has realised GH3 is cheap in the sales & is chancing his arm - thoughts/advice?

I've had comms from both ebay & paypal saying the guy is onto plums as he waited so long (paypal dispute is only within 45 days) and also I did not have a returns policy on the auction.

Has anyone else had a buyer try to stiff them like this round xmas?

I haven't responded to the guy as yet - I'm not interested in getting into a war of words over it, but it does seem for once the seller (me) has the rules on his side.

You could either just ignore him or remind him that the goods were as described and that "Buyers only have up to 45 days in which to make a claim through Paypal".

And a lot more if they paid with their card I believe.

The buyer obviously paid a silly price for it as per usual on ebay and has now noticed them cheaper in the shops and is hoping for his money back.

    .

Not without making a fruadulent claim he doesn't.

Personally I would email politely and say that the game was fine when it was sold and that you believe they accept that since they had the game for so long..then just stop corresponding with them.

    Hi guys,

He got it for £33+p&p - so a major saving.

Apart from the fact it did work?
The game was in 100% working order when posted by me.
It was sent fully boxed, securely packaged & by special delivery, so if it really isn't working, it's the buyer who screwed it up.

Anyway, my point is that he waited over 2 months to moan about it, that's why I think he's trying to scam me.
  • I've had a buyer take me right through the dispute process to try and force me into giving him a partial refund.

When they said he could return the item for a full refund he refused showing he was chancing his arm.

These people do exist on ebay and you should stand firm against him.

They've all been reading MSE! I'd never think of half these things without it:eek:
