Thank you, I shall get a bigger pot & compost tomorrow & re-home it! I love mine too, dont wanna kill it!!! Il water it more too, usually I overwater things & kill them so I tried to not do that with this & it needs lots of water....typical!!0

I bought a small, rooted Christmas tree in a pot last year. After Christmas I just dumped it outside in the same pot and sort of ignored it until a week or so ago. Determined to be MSE I just cut off a few dead bits, brought it indoors and covered it in lights and tinsel. It looks fine but I want to look after it properly for next year. It hasn't grown much so I'm guessing it needs repotting. Any ideas would be very welcome.0

If it had dead bits it prob wasn't too happy anyway!
Keep it well watered and cool as poss while inside and then get it back out after 12th night into a protected place - if it goes straight out from a warm house to a frosty garden the shock could kill it!
I'd leave it til March/April maybe to re pot it as the re potting may make it start to grow when the weather's still cold you want to wait til Spring. Have a good look at the roots then, see if there's lots of fine fibrous roots not dead looking- if so it'll prob be ok - I hope!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
thanks for that info nodwah. I also had a little potted tree last year and dumped it in the garden.Thankfully ,we had a miserable summer and it survived. When I brought it indoors it started losing a few needles for a couple of days but plenty of watering and it's settled down. I'd like to keep it small (24" at moment) for as long as possible. Will it survive if I don't put it in a bigger pot but just feed it?0

You could maybe try trimming the roots a wee bit - but I'm no expert on bonsai- other wise they're very vigorous trees and will burst out the pot in time I would think!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0
