Your Christmas tree probably 'died' when you brought it indoors for Christmas.
Evergreens take time to show signs of death.
Re-plant it in your garden and leave it there for a while to see if it recovers. I suspect it is already too late though.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

HI I didn't bring the tree indoors, I repotted it and left it outside with a few lights on0 -
It may be the weather, Christmas trees don't like it dry and hot, they can cope with heat, but they do best where the air has moisture in it. Try using a mist sprayer on it to stop it getting too dry. Also make sure the pot is in the garden (around soil & other plants), and not on a patio, decking or against a southerly wall of a house for the summer (anywhere where there is a slightly higher micro climate).0

I have a small Christmas tree that I had in the living room last year, in January I put it out in the garden and basically ignored it until this Saturday.
It’s grown nicely except where it was shoved against a wall and got no light. I’ve cut off the dead or unattractive branches and placed it where it can get some sun (if we get any) in an attempt to get it looking good for Christmas.
My questions are...
how can I help this process along?
I have some miracle grow feed (or tomorite – I suspect this isn’t good though),
if I water it with that will that be a help to it?
Do I keep it wet, (it has clay soil),
re-pot it in a slightly bigger pot?
Or just leave it somewhere bright and have another look on December 1st?

Matt I think its lovely that you are reusing last years tree but if you were hoping that the branches you cut off will regenerate with tender loving care I am afraid you will be disappointed. Once branches on a conifer have gone brown and died they do not regenerate I am afraid... the best you can hope is that some of the branches that are still green will spread out and fill the gap but this will take several seasons and isn't going to happen in time for Christmas.... what a shame... but maybe it would look ok if you just shove the bare bit to the wall..... good luck with it....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

thanks, basically its fine from the front because it was shoved up against the wall. You cant really see the dead bits as they would be at the back so its not a disaster!
If it looks bad i'll overdo the tinsel there!
Can I feed it with miracle grow?0 -
I would say it's probably too late in the year for it to grow much, sorry. but do feed it next year.
When you do bring it inside try to make sure it's kept quite cool to give it the best chance of surviving another year and when you put it back outside give it a gentle transition by protecting it and don't put it out on a really frosty night srtaight away.
At least if it's dead at the back you can put it flat against a wall so it'll take up much less space!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Hi all, my friend got me a tiny christmas tree for christmas, well all started well, I am very un-greenfingered! However now its gone quite brown at the bottom and doesnt seem to have grown much recently! If i re-pot it into a bigger pot with some fresh soil & a bit of food will that save it? Im really not good with plants & thought I was doing so well keeping it going till now!
Thank you in advance!

I had a titchy one at Christmas too, I love it
I re-potted it in compost and put it in the greenhouse mid-january. It went a bit saggy then I learned that they need loads of water so it's watered every other day and it's doing really well. I haven't used feed.
If it needs that much water now, I imagine I'll be watering it 3 times a day in summerBulletproof0
