I don't mean to rain on your parade Minniepoos but scrap metal is on the floor at the moment - The scrappy accross the estate from my work went bust things are so bad (Never heard of such a thing before and I was once a scappy myself) - So before driving down to your merchant it would be wise to give them a ring and ask the price (If they are paying at all) before you go. Let us know how you get on.0 -

I knew the price of scrap had gone down, but didn't know it was that bad
I suppose any money and a tidy garden is better than no money and a garden full of rubbish
One of my friends is supposed to be taking it in this week (or maybe next week), so I might get him to ring up first.

Most domestic scrap is the grade known as "Light Iron", it's also the least valuable. When I was in business I got 40 a tonne for it, then it went down to 1 pound a tonne and I went out of business. Aluminium still has some value as does copper, brass, genuine stainless steel (that is a magnet wont stick to it) and lead have some value still but its a shodow of what it used to be - All part of the global economic slowdown. Also metal is priced in US$ so the pounds decline also affects the prices. Just didn't want you to be disappointed or worse still, use up valuable fuel needlessly. A quick call on the phone will let you know the true situation where you are. If you are close to a steelworks there might be a better price than here in the sticks.0

Good luck with the scrap minniepoos, but like you say least you have a nice tidy garden, roll on summer lol

How's it going Jet? You haven't posted in a while, you must be busy reading the MB threads
I just placed my 8th bet on Bet356, taking some time to work through these! But then again I am being more careful and taking the time to find better odds :j

I'm just rubbish at the mo I'm afraid ...have been doing nothing towards the challenge apart from re-listing anything that didn't sell on ebay. I need a HUGE kick up the backside!! I've got a couple of days of next week so will have to get a wiggle on.JUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0

You do well to list on ebay Jet, for me that is the hardest thing because it is so boring actually doing it, but worthwhile after lolThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
