Point taken that Toys R Us seem to have messed up here....

But another lesson in teaching the Mrs what modern technology is..even mine would have spotted this one!

Maybe it's just me but Toys R Us is the last place I'd go to for a laptop. The reason is in the name.

I'd have thought they'd argue she could have read the information on display.

Do they have a summary of the specs on display and if so, does it mention a cd drive a all? Or more to the point, does it mention a cd drive on the ones that do have one?

Or what about the box - is there information on there?

If she could not easily have found this information on going to the store, I think you may have a better chance of arguing why she relied on the assistants word. Although it is obviously her word against theirs still.
  • Yes its a notebook computer, still does'nt change the fact that my wife was told it had a cd drive

Do notebooks ever come with DVD drives?

I'd have thought they'd be a bit small for that.

A notebook does, a netbook doesn't. A netbook is for surfing the net, a notebook is a standard laptop.
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

Netbook is not like a laptop thats why they are much smaller, and often cheaper.

I agree they shouldn't have said that it comes with cd drive however you first few posts are confusing, perhaps in the sales banter things weren't made clear. Its always best to do some research first on technology sometimes shop assistants dont know there technology

I must admit I aint to up on netbooks as I never needed one although I do know they are light, often run on flash memory

Yeah they are smaller still. They generally have between a 7 to 10" inch screen and none so far have come with a disc drive. Mainly because it would take up the full length of the netbook and require it to be bigger, therefore bringing it into laptop teritory.
