I have a payg sim card on my mobile with orange,i now have a contract phone with t mobile and i want to use my old payg number as many people know it,i beleive you request a pac code etc, what happens when you get that, how long does it take to get your number and when you do is it as easy as giving it to t mobile and having your new number.
Also say as i am a payg and if i have some credit left on that number will i lose that credit and also does that mean nobody could call me on that number once i request that pac code and am i not able to call out too?

Its just if i do request my pac code etc i still want to be able to use the phone and make and receive calls with that number but unsure how this pac thing works, also how do you get the code right away or later and do they txt it,reason being i work away from home where i dont get a signal and if they did i would not be able to get the txt till two weeks, can someone advise on this requesting a pac code, using the phone once requested etc and the transfer of the number to my contract phone etc.

thanks
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

You request your pac from Orange (it lasts 28 days), you give the pac to T and they action it.
The number gets transfered from O to T (takes about 3 to 5 working days, they'll tel you how long when you give them the pac), at that point the O sim card stops working and your O acc is closed and the T sim get the old O number attached to it...
When you say you still want to make and recive calls, I take it you mean until your number ports to T ? You can't have the same number on 2 networks. . .
  • It takes t-mobile 2 working days to transfer the number to their network, Which will be a week monday at the earliest the now, with the bank holidays coming up. You'll still be able to use you're payg number until the date that it changes to t-mobile, on that day, you may get a slight loss of service, but it shouldn't be too bad. Just make sure (and you will be told this by t-mobile when you give them the code) that you don't have anything saved on your t-mobile sim as everything will be lost when the orange number changes over.

So, yes, you will still be able to receive calls etc on Orange then on the date of the porting, all the calls will go to your t-mobile sim.

    Hope thats clear enough

As you already have a TMobile contract they may not at this point allow you to transfer a number from your old network? Normally, at the point of starting a contract you would advise the network that you wished to port an existing number.

The easiest way to deal with this problem might be to put a message on the Orange answerphone advising callers of your new number.

If you were able to port it you would probably lose the remaining PAYG airtime with Orange.

T-mobile allow customers to port over a number at any point in the contract. Which is better than most companies.

Also pingu, T-mobile can give the pac to customers when they ask. I know when I called orange they sent it out via post and said they couldn't tell me what it was, which is rubbish imo as it means they're getting another weeks worth of business from me.

Ask Voda for you're pac code (which lasts 28 days), give that to O2 and they'll transfer you're number to them. Voda will then bill you to the end of you're contract.
Do not ask to end your contract that'll result in you losing your number.
