I too just signed up for an issue 2 online saver and was successful. If they want to play at silly beggars with their issue 1 interest rates, two can play at that game.

Sorry to be a drag but is LINK the same machine as the Royal Bank of Scotland??

Link is a company in its own right, owned by some of the members (major financial institutions incl RBOS) of the LINK network

Am I missing something, how do LINK/RBOS relate to A&L?

Can anyone tell me if you can easily transfer funds between the two Online Saver Accounts, and if so how long it takes.
There's no way to do it on the website, and according to their people on the phone the only way to do it is by going via your linked current account!!! Thus losing several days' interest.

Make sure you time it well - withdraw on Monday, should arrive in your current account by Thursday morning, so have a deposit instruction lined up for the Friday. I would not cut it any finer than that. Also - if you have just opened an Issue 2, the first deposit takes a LOT longer. So do a small "test transfer" to get things working smoothly before putting the above plan into action.
  • I've also applied for the Online Saver 2 @ 5.15% AER as I have Issue 1 @ 4.15%.

Online saver issue 1 is 4.50% up to £30000 and 4.75% thereafter up to £50000.

I apllied for the issue 2 the min it came out and now the bonus is set to last for longer it's an even better deal.

I applied on Sunday and have just received the letter and moved the money into the account. By clearing out money from the premier current account and old plus-saver account into the new Iss 2 saver I'm making about 10p per day more interest after tax. Great stuff.

Here's a handy table of A&L saving rates:

I can't seem to move the last £3 out of my plus saver account though. Any idea why this? It keeps saying insufficient funds available. Maybe I'll leave it a day or two to settle.

You need to keep a minimum £1 in your PlusSaver a/c to 'maintain' it. Won't have ever transferred money into this account had I known :P I asked to close the plussaver but it'd mean having to close my current account too.

Can you link the A&L Online Saver 2 to an external account (like Nationwide)?
Seem more convenient than having to hop to the A+L Premier Direct and then into the A&L Savings Account

OK, so I have to leave £1 in there or else I have to close the whole lot down?
Oh well, not too bad, it can make me interest over the year. LOL.

I'm not sure; I've always transferred into the current account and then into the savings. A&L internal transfer is instantaneous though.

Yes, but the linked account must be a current account
