Economic Washing Machines-to buy and run

I've got a Miele and love it. It uses hardly any water or electricity and gives good results with minimal soap powder. I bought the cheapest model they do and yes it was still very expensive. But I've had it a long time and it's never broken down. Other machines I've had were cheaper but I ended up spending money getting them repaired (I've had a Hotpoint, a Candy and 1 other I can't remember). If you think of it in cost per wash the Miele was cheapest.0

We have the John Lewis JLWM1203, having previously worn out a couple of Candy's. We went to our local JL store thinking about buying a Bosch but came away (September 2005) with their own store badged AEG manufactured machine. It seems to have good review from the Washer Help forum (halfway up this thread) and we have been happy with ours. Does everything we need it to and is totally reliable to date :money:0

my zanussi packed up a couple of days ago, it made a horrendous sound during the spin cycle and then smoke billowed out of the drum! i had had it 10 years, with it being used almost every other day. in the 10 years that i have had it, it never went wrong.
i have no idea what has gone wrong with my machine but i decided that it would be best to just replace the 10 year old machine instead of getting a plumber out to fix it, washing machines are so cheap these days, by the time i had paid a mechanic for time and new parts i would probably be close to paying for a new machine! so i have purchased another zanussi (being delivered this morning).
Zanussi ZWF14070w1
I paid £265 from a small local family business for the machine, which includes connection and disposal of old machine. I could have got it for £240 from Argos but the wait is 3 weeks for delivery - no way am i going to the launderette, i would rather pay the extra and get the machine now
