What do you want the machine to do? Is there a specific task that it will be used for i.e. gaming, graphics, database work etc? If it is just a general purpose box then expect to pay about £250-£300, however try and keep away from Intel Celeron type processors, keep an eye open for Pentium-Class CPU's like the Core 2 Duo, you will reap the benefits by paying an extra £20-£50 over a Celeron box.
