Time is now ready to buy a new one but I have no idea the amount I need to spend. Used for Internet, Email, Photoshop (Elements), Word Processsing, Excel spreadsheets but little else. Happy with 17" size monitor and not looking for bells and whistles but definitely reliability. Must be desk top as I have a Laptop which my wife uses but Laptops not for me.
Want to buy only from well known source.
Heeeeelp -- thanks

Around £400 or so from Dell should get you something that would do the job pretty nicely. The "Outlet" might be worth looking at, too.
Don't forget Quidco.0 -
If you are getting a machine with vista, try to get at least 2gb of ram (you can always buy it separately to the machine to reduce costs)0

As previosuly mentioned Dell is worth a look. You can also try Comet, PCWorld etc. for any Christmas deals.
Dependant on how much you've got to spend how about:

I would think anyone who can afford to spend £400+ on photoshop, wouldn't be at all fussed on how much the PC cost.0

Depends if it's a legit copy

Very good point. Also, if you play with Photoshop a lot, the more RAM the merrier - image processing is a right drain on the resources - and a large hard drive helps, too.ringo_24601 wrote: »If you are getting a machine with vista, try to get at least 2gb of ram (you can always buy it separately to the machine to reduce costs)
Dell are definitely worth a look, and you can get cashback through sites like Quidco and Topcashback with for Dell, too.
If you do go Dell, you might wat to look at just getting the 2GB of RAM and upgrading later independently if you need to, as Dell tend to be expensive for RAM upgrades.
