Sky Base or Mid Broadband- Any Good?

Just got Sky TV installed and when looking through the stuff they send it says that I can get Sky Base broadband free or Sky Mid broadband for £5 a month. Currently paying £12.99 a month for my broadband connection so would be making a saving here.
Don't want to go through the hassle of getting a MAC code etc if Sky broadband is not up to scratch, never had a problem with current supplier (Tiscali) so was wondering if anyone can provide any details.
Anyone else on Sky broadband? any problems etc?
Cheers for any help

First check that the LLU product from Sky is available at your exchange.
Second Base is £5/month and Mid is £10/month unless you also take Sky Talk.
Third, it works fine for me, there was a BT created foul up in the exchange when I changed over from Wanadoo that took three months to sort out, but its been working faultlessly for the last 2 years.
Loads of informed info on Sky broadband on https://www.skyuser.co.ukThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Been with them a year and no problems, if your line is ok and your setup is correct you should see very little downtime etc with it.0

Well I think i'll give Sky Broadband a try.
Do I have to get a MAC code from Tiscali first before contacting Sky?
How difficult is it to get this code from them, never moved before and been with Tiscali a while without much problems.
Any help on moving over would be appreciated again.:T0 -
i'd get the mac 1st then that way least its 1 less phone call0

Make sure you get a Netgear router from Sky. The default Sagem ones are useless and cause lots of problems in connection. Sky don't want to give out Netgear as these are costlier.
PS: Sky BB price is going up by £5/month from March 2009 unless you subscribe to Sky talk as well.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -

Anyone know telephone number to contact Tiscali to ask for my MAC code?

being a sky mid broadband user, i use the internet every evening and general website browsing and is on for the whole night like 6 hours browsing (estimate) per day, like forums, emails etc. not complaints on speed etc. (well not much, but could be my computer)
as the prices are going up, thinking of going down to sky base broadband to keep the costs the same, or will it be slow and rubbish compared to what i have now?0
