No - nothing given to Icelandics, no axe to grind except to do with good advice.

As for social workers, I think the original poster would benefit from meeting some. Those who don't have the requisite knowledge in benefits are trained to consult an expert.

Presumably you know everyone who is on here and have assessed them as not being experts?
Do you think it might be possible that some people on here are actually experts? (apart from you that is?)

You've suggested various facts about DLA, and the impact it may have, but the OP has only said they get IB.
Assuming the OP has been on IB for 12 months, and they are single with no other income, that'd be about £85 ish. Their HB applicable amount would be about £76 ish (not got the scale rates to hand), so the excess income of £9 would lead to them having to pay about £6 (after 65% taper) a week towards their rent, assuming that the rent could be met in full under the LHA rules. OP could check theior LHA entitlement via the rent service (.gov.uk) site which links to the LHA site and the room size calculator.

A lot of assumptions there, but all based on the OPs data. Expert enough? Or should this board be closed, as it is no use if a simple HB calac can't be done based ont he info provided?

I've assessed the forum as not being a safe place to go for reliable advice upon which to make any decisions!

Good grief! Social workers can't cope with the workloads they have already. If everyone on IB consulted them they wouldn't have time for their real clients and, as most of us on here have told you, they are NOT experts as far as benefits are concerned. Perhaps it might be a good idea for you to look into the role of social workers because your idea of what they actually do is totally wrong!

I didn't give advice, I wondered whether the original poster was getting or could get DLA care mid/high. Pay attention!

I did pay attention that is why I corrected your misleading statement/advice/whatever you want to call it. You have done exactly what you are moaning about with regard to this board.

I notice that the OP hasn't posted again on this thread, despite logging on at least once this afternoon. (Can't say I blame them ).

So I'm locking this thread for now. I'll PM them about it shortly.
