I read your post as suggesting there is no SDP in HB.
I did not say or mean that, my point was that they would get HB/LHA anyway and the getting SDP would not be the trigger. Your first post gave me the impression you were saying they would receive HB/LHA if they get SDP but as I said they would already be entitled to it.0 -

And the correct approach would not be for people with only partial information to speculate about possible entitlement to HB over time on an internet forum, but for a competent and impartial adviser to find out the full facts, and carry out a proper benefits check, and ideally a community care assessment as well, in order to be able to give fully informed advice on which the original poster could rely in making decisions.0 -

Which is what you were doing by talking about DLA when the OP had not even mentioned DLA, that is speculating. I was only correcting your misleading advice.0 -

After a long battle with DLA I've just got my mate high rate care backdated for 3 years. That'll get him 3 years SDP. My neighbour I've just got Guardian's Allowance. Another neighbour I helped get her Jobgrant, Mortgage & Council Tax run ons and Return To Work Credit. In addition to all that I post here and a few months back we had our first child, Finn, who is taking up much of my time too.
Oh yeah. All that plus holding a relatively low paid job, working for the Department for Work & Pensions, which pays less than many folk receive in benefits. I try hard not to be judgemental but am as subject to human frailties like everyone else, the fact I haven't ripped so many dippy OP's to shreds says much about my own self restraint & that of the other regulars on here, folks who give up their own free time to help others.
But your point is well taken. I'm gunna have to drop something come the New Year & it mights as well be the benefit board, like working for DWP it's a thankless bloody task & one I can't be arsed with anymore.
The Old Firm game's just started on Setanta. Am off to watch that instead of this pish.
I would also be sorry to see you go because you have given alot of good, accurate advice which has helped alot of people.
I understand if you have more important things to do but dont let the !!!!!!!!s we sometimes get on here drive you off.
I did not use a strong swear word but it has still been censored!0 -
Did you follow 'advice' about Icelandic investments Dustangle?
I only ask as you seem to have an axe to grind yourself?
Looks like you have joined this thread and posted a load of twaddle, in order to prove your point that information give may be twaddle?
Then you have advised them to ask social workers, who are actually not trained in benefits advice, and likely know less than most of their clients! Plus, most people on IB will not have anywhere near regular contact with a social worker anyway.0 -

I cant see the problem with Icelandic banks because people got their money back anyway!0 -

No - nothing given to Icelandics, no axe to grind except to do with good advice.
As for social workers, I think the original poster would benefit from meeting some. Those who don't have the requisite knowledge in benefits are trained to consult an expert.0 -
