It seems that Linpus Lite is based on Fedora linux.
So maybe it's a 'stripped-down' version for use with netbooks.
Probably programs that are designed for use with Fedora will run ok on your Aspire.
You might be able to get more information from the Fedora forum too.

Download Madriva2009
Stick the disk in and boot from CD
Click install
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!
When you ge tto the partition section ask it to create a partition from FREE space and keep windows. then you have a dual boot machine (like this one).

the default boot is mandriva but this is changeable in Mandriva Control centre (so my wife get windows by only turing on the machine).
