Agree with Seth - have often bought display stuff from DSG group stores and good discounts. Popped into PCW London City branch and it was not worth the walk unless you want a tub of paperclips or a round IDE cable for 97p.

I'm not a gamer but the normal games clearout stuff was there - including stuff knocked down to 97p, but I wouldn't know a Wintendo from a DS Box 180.

Funny that I went to 3 stores & was told that display models go back to head office.

    Thanks anyway @ Kraven

They do get sold. The only problem is that there's a good chance the remote control was either lost or buried somewhere in the warehouse.

Good point an original remote, manual and cables are all important.

It is worth trying to track down a PDF version of the manual from the manufactures web site, most standard cables are easy to replace, but original remotes and special cables can be VERY expensive to replace.

Also worth taking a good look at the unit for marks scratches etc on all surfaces before paying for things.

I got a DVD player 160G HD and DVD+-RW, Firewire, Freeview (1 tuner), DivX, HDMI etc a few small scratches but all the accessories were there.

If you said to them that the price is £24.97 and anything with a price ending in .97 is a discontinued item, they would have sold it to you. You just needed to speak to a supervisor or manager.

Well I took your advice WENT back to the first store & after some initial fobbing off managed to get them to sell me the DVD Recorder with box manual & remote.

They had about 7 Dvd Recorders sitting there with no price

The bloke who sorted it out for me said they all need to be re-priced & thanked me otherwise it may well have been a long time before it was sorted.

    Thanks Kraven

They don't, they get sold off (usually at full price!).

Chances are a member of staffed had "bagged" it :P

EDIT - When stuff goes on display it SHOULD have the box put in a pile in the warehouse - so you find the box and get all the accesories etc. Only it's not always this simple :(

Farnborough branch today - got a Tomtom Go 720 T for £89.97 - but appeared to be the only one available and it was advertised as missing the in car charger (which can be bought for a couple of quid on ebay).

Jakg, would you be able to do a stock transfer of the Olympus E410 Kit (942260) from the Currys next door to you? They have like 14 and you guys have zero! is that a possibility? Thanks!
