I know this is slightly off topic but thought they would be great for children's halloween partys or as treats togive away

I've made these in the past for halloween but didn't this year and a couple of kids were actually disappointed that they didn't have them to take home!! Very easy to do!

Looks like we're all going to be busy - good job OH doesn't mind a bit of hoovering..............lol:rotfl:

Started my first Dammit Doll today.............he's all done and stuffed (had to sew by hand) and I'll send him to my son for his birthday. He's always a good one to try things out on and as he's got dreadlocks, I'm trying to do long strands of hair on my doll.............taken me ages and he's still half bald...............lol Is there an easy way of doing hair ?
Think he needs bigger eyes as well but I can put that right then blanket stitch all round. I was really pleased I'd actually started on something from my never ending list..............lol:rotfl:

Usually you sew lengths of wool onto bias tape then stitch the tape to the head, but I found a link showing how to make dreadlocks from tights http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_dolls/article/0,2025,DIY_13753_2268199,00.html
or you could use some long fringing like they use on upholstery and curtains, if it's the multi coloured style how about cutting the edge off of an old fringed scarf and stitching this to the head, hope this is useful to you

Jailhousebabe - well they're not exactly dreadlocks I've done - just long bits of wool so far...............blessed things starting to look like a voodoo doll:eek:

she grinch - thanks. I'll have a look at the link - didn't think of using a scarf ............could kick myself now................lol

Least it got OH's seal of approval.............that's something as usually he can be quite critical and comes out with 'well I'd have thought you'd done it this way...............'...............lol Haven't noticed him actually doing anything though...........lol

This cute little christmas tree http://thiscraftymom.wordpress.com/2008/11/23/how-to-make-a-christmas-tree-hair-bow/
could be used to embellish cards, cushions, jumpers etc as well as made into this hair clip, don't you think?

This is a free knitting pattern for a fantastic crayola crayon scarf which is lined with fleece to make it warm http://slippedstitch.blogspot.com/2005/12/my-crayon-scarf.html

  • This crafting stuff is so addictive isn't it. I have so many ideas of things I want to make for people. Is there a crafty birthdays thread or other gifts thread as some of the things I want to do won't be for Christmas but for other occasions?
