of course you need the card with the card reader but SHE could have done it! But your situation was complicated: no intenet, no branch, no phone banking already set up.... :-(

ah yes, glasgow-St Andrews is not really the closest!

I may be going against the grain but I've been with Co-op / Smile for about two years and had no real issues. The one time that Co-op did muck up, they paid me £70.00 and apologised profusely :)

yeah same here, been with Smile since 2007 and never had any problems. Their customer service is great, but the online banking is ancient and definitely needs to be upgraded!

There is actually some news on the login for Smile now that suggests the online banking is changing this Saturday night. I'm a little bit excited, how sad! :o

I have to say in my opinion the Lloyds TSB / Halifax user interface is the most clean and easy to use user interface for a online banking system I have ever come across and beats the rest hands down.

Apologies for barging into this thread on a slight "diversion" but do Llloyds have a demo of their internet banking on their site?

My partner has just moved to Barclays and finds their online banking awful :(

Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

I have a smile current account but switched to Santander as my "main account" to get the £100 sign up deal, but kept my smile account and still use it sometimes. I have been with smile for 5/6 years and LOVED them until I upgraded to smilemore thinking it was free for 12 months (an old offer) and then being charged each month and being told it was for "new" customers only - even though the advertising suggested something a little different.

I'm going to keep the Santander one as I get a better interest rate but will definitely keep my smile account :)

Up until Tuesday I had a current , savings and credit card with them .

On the 3rd they paid me some unexpected interest to the savings account and moved the balance to my current account .
I sent a message asking them why . - Still no reply .

On the 4th the savings account was missing from my accounts list .
I sent a message asking them why they had closed the account . - Still no reply .

On the 5th I had some dosh credited from a closed building society account .
I used "Pay bills" to send some of the money to a new building society account (which I had previously tested as working) .

Today I logged on and the money is still sitting in my current account and the paid bills section says sent 05.08.11 .
I sent a message asking them why the payment wasn't sent . - no reply as yet .

It's being ignored by them I dislike the most .
