Hey folkies!! hope thta you have ahd a lovely lovely christmas dinner and are all sat on the sofa stoofed from too much christmas turkey... Righto, advice needed peepys on morally what is the right thing to do here?
I've today received £70 from the folks to put towards a digital SLR camera that i really want to save up for as a me treat sometime in the summer. BUT!! and heres the crux, the 20k challenge is ringing in my ears saying to me "pay a debt! pay a debt! pay a debt!" and it won't blimmin shut up!!!
Morally, mum and dad gave me the money for a camera and that is what, in the passage of time they expect it to be used for so I should bung it in my isa and have done with it!!!
Immorally it would reduce a debt by £70 which in light of the one that i am attacking as if my life depends on it isn't to be sniffed at!!! So, what would you do???
Help!!!! votes please!!!

Hey P - what a toughie!!
I'd pay off, but then my parents give me money on the basis that I'm free to do what I want with it...think how much sweeter the camera will be when you're debt free and you've saved for it

happy christmas p! Off the debt for me - you can have the money back later and save yourself some interest in the meantime!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hey P
My DH has given me £100 (bless him but silly when we are trying to pay debt off) so I am sort of in the same boat. Do I use it to pay off some debt or use it to buy the garmin I have been lusting over for months??I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
Finally Debt Free...0 -
I'm sure they won't care, if they do ask just say you're saving up or something. My bro gave me money and I've decided to use that towards the debt.Mortgage OP 2025 £7550/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Yeah good thanks
tired now though...hope you a had nice one!
True - could you not say well I leant it to my firend 'insert friend's name' because they've gone to their brothers wedding and wanted some great photos?? Or you could borrow someone elses for the day?? Or you could be completely honest and say 'well since my CC was costing me a lot in interest I paid it off that instead, but I've started a savings jar for the camera and I'll buy it next year'??0 -
Now in Sally's case - Garmin!!!!! Get bidding on ebay

I would pay off the debt as i bet if you do buy it you will feel guilty after, will be much better having it next Christmas when you could be debt free
